The gti will retain the twincharged engine and the R will get the 1.6T unit which means if all goes well and VW see fit to let SEAT do it then we may see a cupra R with the 1.6T unit and hopefully a 6 speed wet box DSG.

By concrete I meant more than speculation by magazines

No doubt a 1.6T must be in production development, but I think there must be a fairly limited market for a 4wd Polo Turbo for £24k.

Some photos now up on the SEAT UK facebook page.
I'm not really keen it - I think the mk4 facelift was excellend and really improved the look of the car. I think on the mk5 it just looks cheaper :(

+1 I prefer the look of my current SC.

Will get expensive for those who do want to get the new look.

Bonnet, HeadLights & Bumper + some wiring for the DRL's

Anyone else think the fornt now looks like a ford focus?

Waiting to see what goodies the interior update brings

I like it. Looks meaner and will do more so with the DRL's. Cupra should look the dogs.

Roll on the new Leon.

It will grow on people I'm sure. The MK2 Leon facelift did on me (although I still prefer pre if I had to choose) :)

I guess it would be best to see these new ones in the flesh and to nosey around in them but it would probably take off, agree the cupra would look the danglies just dissapointed they are retaining the twincharged engine unless they have resolved it's issues now.........

Agree that seeing the facelift model in the flesh is the only way to judge how the car really looks. Having said that my initial impression (as I've said before) is that the facelift isn't an improvement over what we currently have. I certainly wouldn't be tempted to give up my current car for a new Ibiza from what I've seen so far...

That's not a bad thing though. People would be p1ssed if the facelift made their current car look rubbish in comparison. Subtle changes. :)

The 6 press shots shown so far are disappointing IMO, poor choice of colour and spec, don't really sell it. All the details from SEAT seem quite vague it isn't clear exactly what they are changing to me.
