Does anybody else's TFSI do this?

Well this is one of those things thats hard to explain without actually trying it for yourself and seeing what i mean but basically when i back off the accelerator in most gears if ive put my foot down a bit(not loads tho) at a certain point when the revs are dropping the car makes a sort off judder sound, only a quick noise, its a bit like engine breaking kind of noise/feeling but i just wondered if anyone else experienced this? its done it since i bought it so could it be some kind of problem or is it normal?

Cheers

Have you an induction kit on it?

Sounds like turbo stall to me, mine does it.

No its got the standard on it mate, the whole cars standard, i cant see that the turbo would be doing much work tho at the time of it doing it, might be wrong tho :/

Is it recordable?
Is it comparable to the DSG "pop".

I get a little "bump" when I (or the car) switch down and let it rev down.

Erm maybe it would pick the noise up if i recorded it, id have to try i suppose, could it be the dv that has gone or is leaking?

It always does it as the revs are dropping when lifting off the accelerator, its not when you put your foot down, its just wierd lol

I describe my noise as someone shutting a heavy car door outside when you're lying in bed with you ear to the pillow. Hahahha. Best way I could describe it. And yes, when revs drop, not when accelerating ever. And at random times during rev drop. And especially after a spirited run.

Sounds kind of familiar...

yes. mine does it..if youre traveling for example in 4th, at about 50ish then just take your foot off the accelerator. after about a second or 2 your hear like a low thump. Its real subtle and it does it in every gear provided youre at the right revs. I think it may have something to do with the turbo stopping maybe.

Side note: i have no warning lights and no loss in power or economy, no smoke etc etc. i think its fine and normal to have it!

p.s. i quite like it!

edit: or even back pressure through the exhaust?

I have a naturally aspirated 1.6 and when the gears are dropping (on low speed), the car kind of "brakes" for a second. I don't know how to put it, but it's like the car's moving slowly and while it's dropping it just suddenly sort of brakes and then releases again. I can also hear it!
