2-stroke oil in Diesel

mate of mine has been using Kerosine in his old tdi ibiza he uses up and down a farm track with added cheap oil for years without any trouble and hell its quiet for a 15 year old car with 150000 miles on the clock,must be doing the same kind of thing...

I contemplated this a while back when it first came around. But I'm still working my way through a gallon of Millers so I don't want to start mixing the two. I may buy a load and run it in the van to see how that behaves, as with 240000 miles on the clock it needs all the help it can get.

Well done about 50 miles on it now and it seems a little smoother low down and a touch quieter, but it's always hard to tell with these additives.

Castrol Act-Eva. Is £5 for litre at Tesco. Is the low ash version which I believe you need if you're running a cat.
The thread on Briskoda is quite detailed.

Yeah, I know it's detailed, but I was just interested to know which brand you'd bought and what price. I'm contemplating buying gallons of it rather than a litre. A litre will last me about 10 days. :happy:

There is certainly plenty of discussion on American Forums about using 2 stroke oil in diesel as a cheap lubracity fix suitable for old Naturally Aspirated Diesels. Having read on a number of occasions about the poor quality low cetane fuel they get I think I can understand the interest. Here in the UK we have long had a minimum of 2% Bio Diesel added which that research also recognised as the best lubracity additive. So we do not need to add 2stroke oil for lubracity improvements.

The researchers who tested 19 different additives recognised that 2 Stroke oil would not be a good idea in a modern diesel when they listed the additives tested.

If your after more power and more try acetone. It works by lowering the surface tension in the diesel, thus it vaporises easier. Best dose in my TDI 130 is 5ml per tank full. for older non PD diesels try slight more.

As the PD TDI is designed to run on pure biodiesel corrosion is not an issue, if you have an older diesel then it may eat your pipes if you put too much in, it eats plastic so store any you get in a glass bottle.

If you drive like a granny you will gain more MPG, but hammering it acetone appears to allow more fuel in to the engine thus will give you more power, but eat away at the mpg.

If you don't believe me just do a search on google.

I have used it when running Pure veg oil to lower the freezing point. For this use I think its a must. The best combination I found was 50/50 corn oil to normal diesel with 5 ml of acetone. That ran soooo soomthly, but then veg oil rocketed in price to make it not worth bothering.

Yep my car has run well on lots of different fuels from biodiesel to pure veg oil -- these PD TDI truly are amazing..
