toxxin and muddyboots u sure done alot of miles for 03 platers and with ur faults dont u get 3 years warranty from seat ? i do on my 53 plate 130 leon which even applies in germany too. also i only done 25000 miles now (inc germany and back a few good times) and consider that high for a 2 year old car (norm 10000 a year) so where do u guys do all ur driving ?????

In UK, the first 2 years were unlimited mileage, manufacturer warranty. The third year was a dealer warranty, limited to 60k miles, IE little use to me as IIRC I'd done over 55k at the end of 2 years.

I imported from Holland where you only get the 2yr Manufacturer warranty anyway.

My miles have come from:
- 90-mile a day work commuting
- out and about at weekends
- several holidays touring round Europe

As you can see from my siggy I've got a 150PD Cupra which is now 21 months old and got 43.5k on the clock !!

Had a few minor things fixed under warranty - water in the high level brake light, slight leak on the sump but nothing serious !!

Saying that though,.. while sat in traffic on the M3 last night the temp gauge went up beyond 90 to about 105 !! That's the first time it's ever strayed over 90 !! I turned the heat and fan up which dropped the temp and all was OK once on the move again. When I got home I left it running for about 10 mins and the temp stayed at 90 and the electric fans didn't cut in so I'm wondering whether something is not quite right there ??

Has anyone else had this happen to them and what kind of temps do you guys see from your motors ??

EDIT: Just checked out the TDi FAQ's and see that the coolant temp sensor is a common fault so am guessing that that could be a reason !!

Yes something's definitely not right - TDIs struggle to maintain engine temp when idling, let alone heat up.
So either the temp sensor's up the creek, or maybe there's air in there somewhere. (I presume you checked the coolant level!)

Yes mate that's the first thing I checked !! :)

Never had the problem of it loosing temp though once it's warm it never normally moves off 90 whatever the weather !!

Gonna see what it does in traffic this afternoon and if it does it again get it checked at the stealer tomorrow !! :)

muddy thats alot of time u spend in ur car mate i tought i had alot but now seeing how much u lot use urs makes me look like a wkd driver !

i am trying to keep to the 10000 a year governed by the finance company tho otherwise probably would be using it more!

and as to fen's comment of not worth having a diesel if u dont do high mileage i disagree with, the reason i bought the tdi was i like the low down torque and delivery of it and the ease of tuning good mpg just is an added bonus! im sure all tdi owners would agree also with high mileage service costs are high too tho! let alone tyres and pads etc!

i have just done 70k and had it mapped since 44k the only problems i had was the pipe on the back windscreen washer coming undone and blowing the 2 intercooler pipes after the map.
other than that (fingers crossed) so far so good hope to get another 30k at least b4 any big stuff.

90,500 miles on my PD150 in my Leon Cupra.
40k since I bought it in June 2008, and its on a 53 plate.

All is well, I think I will be giving it a birthday for its 100k celebrations lol!

Can anyone reccomend what to do on the 100k service??

I am due an oil and filter change in 1000 miles.

my 150 pd is still going strong at 142,000 miles. I bought it at 128,000 with fsh and have had no probs with it apart from the power steering pully becoming a bit rattley. It was remapped by the previous owner and had the clutch, suspension etc replaced so all things that would normally wear out at this kind of mileage were replaced at around 80,000 miles. Didn't use a drop of oil between the 130 and 140,000 miles services. the only thing that I could say is wrong with it is that the boost pipes need replacing as some of them are a little loose resulting in it being a bit smokey, but i think I'm gonna get the allards boost pipe replacement kit so shoudl be fine then!!!

It drives liek a car with a fraction of the miles on it, very happy with it!!

Bought my 54 130 leon with 83'000 miles on the clock and now just passed 101,000 and the only problem i had after i bought it was a leaky oil cooler seal, that fixed it's been as good as gold since then. Does smoke a little on boost after 'leisurely' driving but this clears if you put your foot down away from a couple of sets of lights..

Hi
I recently bought a tdi 150 with 110 000 miles on the clock. It was an old hsbc car,it came with details of everything that had been changed on the car since they owned it.
. Air con system reapairs
. There are 4 camber and castor alignments done on the car.
. A new turbo outlet hose.
. Radiator.
. Serviced at regular intervals.
The list below is what i have done and need to do to car as mot next week:
. All door seals due to water leak (Done)
. Maf sensor
. Turbo is on its way out.
. Engine management light on Glow plug fault. Light back on again same fault.
The only thing that bothers me about the mileage is the engine is loud, other than that i just put the big list down to wear and tear. The car starts first time with no smoke on startup. The diesal engines if looked after and serviced regularly can do 200k plus as they are fantastic engines.

Im on 98000 miles on a 54 plate ibiza 130, Ive had it since 82000, and its never missed a beat, only problems so far was the sump plug that had been helicoiled by previous owner and was leaking, and I've put a new sump on now and it leaks round the sump now, but i'll have another go at it soon with some decent sealant should sort it. I did use sealant but doesn't seem to have worked. Oh and im going hybrid turbo with it soon just need clutch sorting then can fit the turbo and get it mapped. I'm hoping to have it upto 150,000 miles with no issues running 220 bhp, And even then I think the only weak point is the head gasket.

Cheers. I parked it outside my house and someone crashed into the back at 50mph.

Still arguing about how much I should get and that was in December!

Still, got an LCR now, though I have to try stay away from the TDI section as my fuel bill makes me wince ;o)
