hi, just joined and have my first Seat. love the way she drives and handles, its a 2003 (53) 1.9tdi PD 130.
the AC in my is not working, the unit flashes on start up.
had I on the computer and showing a AC Pressure switch, changed it, pressure tested and gassed her up. still showing the same fault, removed the plug connecting the switch to the loom as it looked damaged and replaced it with 3 small insulated spade connectors in the correct order. same fault.
is there away of by-passing this switch? at the rear of the climate unit or in the loom maybe????

im at the end of my sweaty tether.........

Hi, press econ and recirculate buttons on the climatronic to enter the diagnostic setup. Use temp dial to scroll through present faults. For a faulty ac pressure switch you will see code
31 8, then press and hold econ button to do a reset.

Last thing that you would want to do is to bypass that switch as it is not a switch but a sensor, the AC controller or another controller will use its pressure reading to stop that system damaging itself.

If you were reading that part of the system using a VW group compliant scan tool, you should have checked the initial pressure reading, then checked them again after replacing that sensor, and then again after getting it recharged with R134a.

Maybe your replacement sensor is not compatible with that car, where and which sensor did you buy as lots of them failed so VW group revised them a few times - and are still doing that!!

Edit:- maybe remove the auxiliary belt and see if you can work out if the pulley is still connected to the compressor shaft - there is a shear coupling in there.

Was a denso replacement switch, I gave the reg when I ordered the part.
I'll check the pulley and shaft
Any suggestions welcome, especially if you reckon the replacement pressure switch may not be much cop

Hi,

Did your battery die just before your Air Con stopped working?
A couple of years ago I had to replace my battery and had about 4 months of malfunctioning Air conditioning and heaters. After taking the battery terminals off again to do something completely unrelated the Air Con started to behave as normal.

May not be your problem but simple to try - remember to ensure you know your radio's unlock code before you try this.
