Not as disappointed as me mate. Yes had a look at all that stuff at dark side apart from the belt and water pump, there is a dayco kit on ebay with metal impeller for £90 delivered, oh and I'll have to get the head bolts from somewhere else because they have none in stock till December
Had a look at the egr delete but does it mean that you have to get rid of the asv ? Without that then there's no run away protection for the engine is there ?

dont go for dayco. although they are good, factory fitment is continental contitech. get it from TPS. its not as expensive as you think. they will sell you a complete kit with water pump

as far as i know, they dont use plastic impellers either way with their kits.

you can get those headbolts from ebay too, plenty of sellers.

yes you will have to remove the ASV and modify the map. kinda complex process but its better for long run. the ASV main task is to stop engine shudder when switching engine off. mine shakes a little but doesnt bother me

Well put the rocker cover back on yesterday and ran the car again, still loads of froth / foam in the expansion bottle so I put my oily finger in to have a investigate and all the foam disappears almost instantly....almost like it was contaminated with soap or screen wash.... Let the coolant circulate and the foam all but seems to go .... Revved the engine and no coolant overflow.
Went for a quick spin and all good until BANG intercooler pipe clips decide to eat themselves, been to three scrap yards today and no cigar, but did track Down a mint expansion bottle, got a new bottle of g12 bargain @£6.02 for 5litres @euro, and going to try another scrappy if no luck there I'm going to screw em together with self tappers and heatshink
So possibly not head gasket but contaminated coolant foaming in the head making it boil like a kettle..... Will report back tomorrow
Don't you rate the dayco belt's? I'll price up the Conti kit as well

hmmm thats intresting. maybe playing around with the bolts somehow cured something? lol good luck then! which pipe do you need, i may have some left over from my conversion

i do rate dayco, but i like to stick to what was chosen during manufacturing. like, if you buy a contitech, they will supply you the same one they supply the dealer, but if you get a dayco, it will be like their own design for the engine that was later manufactured.

sometimes aftermarket can be a better design, like if original is plastic impeller but aftermarket is metal, but in this case, i would stick to contitech

Pretty much all three pipes from the intercooler to the asv clips are shagged mate, the hard plastic pipe has one of the clip end locators broken off and the clips on the other two pipes are mullered,
i cant believe how much of a poor design they are .... all the vw's i looked at yesterday just had spring clips on and seat put this crap on them.... I'm going to attach them together with two self tappers on each pipe for now .... how much would you take for the pipes if i can't get any today mate ? and very king of you to offer btw
as for the foaming ..... i'm thinking what could have been happening is with the coolant foaming it was just boiling the coolant like a kettle but i may be wrong

i will have a look and see what i have left. very stupid design. they always leak and go wrong.

foam in the coolant bottle is usually compressed air escaping from cylinder into water

Ok mate ta, yes i know about the air in the coolant probably just clutching at straws with that one. Going to fit the header tank and drain the coolant anyway because it is mainly rust / water ill post some pics up of the state of it later

*** Update ***
Finally started stripping Down the tdi yesterday, so far got oil and water emptied, turbo oil return, egr valve and egr pipework removed, charge pipe and intercooler pipe off, had a nightmare with the egr to exhaust pipe as I was trying to get it off in one bit but someone had cross threaded one of the three screws that mount the egr pipe and it would not come out so had to split the centre of egr pipe to unbolt the inlet manifold..... Turbo, exhaust manifold , tandem pump, timing belt and finally get the sodding head off and have a look at what's gone wrong..... Happy days
