Tyre Pressure Sensor

On the way to work this morning the tyre pressure sensor warning beeped and lit up. I got out and visually checked all the tyres a couple of miles later and there were no apparent problems. There's no indication as to which tyre set off the warning so guess I'll have to work round them all when I get home and have a pressure gauge to hand.

What's the method for setting the pressure at which the sensor goes off? Do all the tyres need to be slightly under inflated (and cold) when it's set, then pumped up to correct pressures for use?

I don't think the Exeo has tyre pressure sensors as such. as far as i'm aware it takes readings from the abs sensors
so if the tyre looses pressure it begins to rotate faster -> ecu lights up the tyre pressure warning.

as for setting it, you should inflate the tyres to the correct pressure (when cold) then hold the reset button beside the handbrake (at least on the prefacelift) i think the procedure is in the user manual.

Always wondered how it worked. Thanks. :)

I'll have a walk round the car to visually check again before setting off home tonight. It's only a 15 mile trip. Then I'll test and set the pressure as you say when the tyres are cold after tea.

Thanks again

Is it odd that when I got back to the car to go home the error came up again before turning a wheel?

Front right was low by about 3psi. I set them all correctly and reset the button. The error has now gone. :)

glad you got it sorted.
odd that the alert came up before driving away, perhaps it will always come on until the reset button is pressed ??

Did you reset it before you set off from the car park? Mine has done this a few times normally about 1000 miles after getting new tyres and occasionally if one has a slow puncture.

Last time it did it with a slow puncture, the spare i put on had less air than the wheel i took off and after re-setting the sensor gave no bother.

Only once did i properly have a puncture as i was about to get on the channel tunnel

No. I figured it better to leave the reminder there to look at it properly when I got back home.

It's been a few days now without problems so fingers crossed that couple of PSI was the problem. Obviously it's a very sensitive system (which is good...I think) :D
