Hi everyone,

Both of my rear light stopped working the other day. So I bought the bulbs and fitted them. The old bulbs looked ok but the pickups looks melted?

Once I had fitted the new ones they worked for a short time and have since failed. I have not taken them back out yet.

From what I have told you do you have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

The holders fail regularly - can be cleaned up and repaired (sort of and temporarily usually) if removed but replacement of the holder is the only real solution. Quick search of the forum will bring up a lot of results.......

Thanks for the reply mate! I have since realised that I was given the wrong bloody bulbs at GSF! I was given single element bulbs and not the twin. Looks to me all resolved for the time being!

I found the same thing with my rear lights, one bulb with one filament, a P21W bulb. My guess is that the Canbus system runs the bulb at a lower current in "rear light" mode, and gives it the full 21 Watts when the brake pedal is pressed. For this reason, I think you will be out of luck with LED bulbs, which will not respond to current limitation in the same way, if at all.
