Hi Guys,
Wondered if anyone could help me. I have had my 2005 Altea 2.0 PD140 for 18 months now and it has run sweet as a nut! Until this week!
Wednesday morning I cracked the car over and got a warning light on the dashboard...
(looks like an orange pictogram of an engine)...

So i pull out my trusty ST3 to check the codes, to which the following codes are logged in the system.

19557
19558
17075

I write these down and then continue to clear the code in case it was a fluke. 24hrs and a hundred or so miles later the error code decides to come back again.. Seems like this time it is here to stay.. Comes back within minutes of clearing.

Luckily the car was in at the dealer on Friday having a tow-bar fitted, so i asked them to check it out (without charging me for anything) the response i got was £300 - £400 or so to fix the problem.

Does anyone know what's up with this? and also would it be something i could fix myself?
I have seen no loss of performance in the car at all. The only one thing i have noticed is like a sparking / belt grind noise near the alternator when sat at idle... Possibly related?

Cheers!!

Chris

well can't find 19557 but 19558 refers to a "flap" and 17075 a manifold pressure drop assuming you have one of those "nasty electric egr valves" of which I know very little I would guess it's sticking unless someone knows better I would do some reasearch in that area on here and Fred's as the yanks have had them longer ---- are we allowed to say yanks??

my 2.0 pd altea's engine management light came on so I had the code read 19558 motor for intake manifold flap v157 no signal, it turned out to be the fuse. It may blow again but seems fine now, it is worth checking especially if the car is running fine.
