you gain better response and maybe a couple of bhp. I did on my hybrid anyway.

I didnt do it for the sound. I didnt notice much when I fitted it anyway. I only modify for power gains, not interested in sounds etc.

At the moment cats are passive.

There are no vosa requirements for cats on diesels even if factory fitted. they just have to pass a normal mot smoke test.

Funny enough my t4 van is going in for a mot in the morning, It's a 2.5 diesel with full mufferectomy w/o cat. We shall see. I'll ask the tester.

removing the cat also means replacing the downpipe aswell. This helps spool times, not only extra hp. Theres no hastle either. Please of p!ss to put a new downpipe on. Don't cost that much. Don't get cel lights, like petrols do.

Hehe yeah my decat is all about performance and preparation for the BT. The sound is just an added bonus lol! Most MOT testers telly couldn't give a rats arse unless there is a blatant fault or if its a dealer garage and they're just after your money, and even if it does become an MOT fail with the decat the solution is to simply screw a bit of plastic over where the cat should be...testers can't remove it and they can't fail you on what they can't see :D

well... my full decat etc van, passed its mot once again. still smoke test only.

other rumours are that if the engine managment light is on its MOT fail. It's not strickly true. If the standard engine cel light it on then thats fine. Fails are with brake warning lights, airbags and so on. Which makes sense.

i dont even think your turbo has vgt? does it? might be wrong.

did you have a downpipe and decat too?

It won't be maxing out too soon as the boost hasn't changed? It will spool quicker and will give less stress on the trubo if anything.

The AHF 110 has a VNT controlled turbo. My downpipe for the minute is standard just decatted. I will be purchasing a larger bore downpipe before it goes for the new map with nozzles etc as it looks like it's a big restriction compare to the rest of the system. I did have a charge pressure code when it was Vagcom'd and really need to get it done again tonight to see what codes are there now, although I haven't taken it to limp mode speed yet. I also removed the vacuum pipe from the EGR valve and plugged it. I ideally need to get the manifold off and clean it all out...but that's a job for the warmer weather!
