Not a 110 but a 105,
25 miles of back lanes to work with lots of junctions 44-47 mpg
Long trips on A-roads 50-53 mpg
High Speed Motorway trips - 45+ mpg

Those on Briskoda who've had both say there is very little difference between the chain 105 and belt 110 engines.

Those who've had the 86 report better mpgs

I believe they line up in order of mpg - tsi86, tsi122, tsi110/tsi105.

They can be quite economic but small petrol turbos seem to need very gentle driving to get good mpg.

On the TSI, Stopstart gives me a 3 mpg benefit. (£100 per year)
but AC costs about 3 mpg
and 17 inch wheels and tyres cost 3mpg

On a TDI, 18 inch wheels and tyres reportedly cost 6-7 mpg

BTW, you can go on the Fuelly website and see a range of owner recorded long term mpgs for any car you like.

Although there aren't many Toledos :(

Look at Skoda Rapids from the same year, they're mechanically identical.

first fill up, weeks commute, around 380 miles (10 journeys of 38 miles) , 45.9 mpg. This is the new 3 cylinder 1 litre engine, around 10 miles urban, 10 miles A road (slow country lane) and 20 miles fast dual carriageway ... interesting to note comment above and 17" wheels, I might investigate 15" - 16" wheels as long term I'd like to run CrossClimate tyres

In the 2014 brochure, which I still have, 15 & 16 inch fits had different EU figures. I guess they had to publish them for all standard fit models - the S came with 15 and the SE with 16. They didn't publish figures for the 17 which was optional only.

I admit I was quite dismayed by the first two brim to brim figures I calculated for the 1.2. It was very tight until it was run in - I remember the first tankful giving sub-40 on the maxidot, and in reality that was only about 37 mpg. Between 1000 to 2000 miles in there was a huge improvement.

Still haven't put many miles on it being retired, but leaving the AC off appears to give me at least a 4 or 5% gain in mpg on the 1.0

Only done 500+ miles on a 998 triple but tankful to tankful returned 46mpg. Notice in the last few days engine either loosening up or my driving style is adapting, very enjoyable car to own and drive. Only gripe those bloody Dynamic alloys are a curse to keep clean. Any ideas on how to keep clean?

Yes the alloys are a pain to clean and the nut covers fall off.

Driving like a priest gives me 46mpg on the dash but it seems optimistic at fill up time.

Still prefer the 1.2 I traded in :(

I'm getting just over 45 mpg, brim to brim, based on 14,600 miles ... looking for a better figure in the summer, although I am unsure how use of aircon and soon to be fitted opening sunroof will affect that

Getting about 45mpg with a 1.2 TSI with 17" alloys. Although mainly driving 1.2 miles to work and back, and then motorway weekends.

My 110 TSI has now averaged 56.6 mpg over 11,000 miles, my fuel is cheapo Sainsburys and probably half of the total mileage is motorway driving. Very happy with my car and is as good as the wifes 1.6 TDI Leon which is used many on short journeys. A bargain for less than£12,000.

Incredible mpg.

Mine is now averaging 51 over the last 1000miles. Mostly trundling along A-roads at 50-60mph.

Is this calculated 56.6 or off the dash? A poster in Ibiza Mk5 is currently getting a 9% optimistic dash reading, and I've previously had a 6% error on a Toledo Mk4.

I'm still not a fan of this 1.0. It's so dependent on conditions as to whether its economical or not.
I had a 8 mpg swing due to wind direction yesterday over a 200 mile round trip. On any given day the average can be anywhere between 38 and 58. But the long term 51 is nowhere near the EU combined 61.4.

Previously I drove a 1.9 JTD FIAT MPV that did near on 44 mpg around town, 44 mpg on A roads and 44+ on Motorways, but wherever you went the average for a tank was always 44.

Guess what the EU overall figure was - yep 44.

Aircon loses me 3 to 5 mpg.

Sunroof I don't know how much but its going to be aerodynamically draggy, and we already know headwinds hurt this little engine a lot.

Im a little surprised by these figures. I thought people qould be reporting regular figures of 50+ mpg from these cars as a Leon with a 1.4 tsi will get 45+
I know the Toledo is bigger but being a 1.0 tsi I'd have expected it to achieve 50+
Reason Im interested is because i was thinking of replacing my wifes 63 plate ibiza 1.4 toca with one of these when the time comes as this has a better 0-62 and better (should be) mpg. The wifes car currently averages 40mpg over 9k miles and on a decent run achieves 45mpg.

I currently have both of those cars. The TOCA 1.4 happily returns 44mpg year round, but is slow. The 1,0 will do 40 maybe 44 if driven without a care, but currently driving with the intent of getting max economy it's giving 51mpg.

Both drive similarly, i.e. annoyingly sluggish at low revs. There's nothing below 2000rpm on either engine. When the power comes in, the 1.0 is faster, but as soon as you start using the power the mpg dives. The 1.2 TSI is a better engine for the Toledo (I've had one) better torque spread and very similar mpg, the 1.4TSI probably better still (but it only came with DSG which won't suit everyone) since it is reportedly better on mpg (on various forums) than the 1.2.

Aside from engine and mpg considerations, the Toledo handles horribly compared with the Ibiza and on the OEM 17 inch Bridgestones road noise is an issue - and the ride isn't as good either.

I find the TOCA a much nicer drive all round, I just wish it had more go!

Thats an insightful analysis thank you. It now leaves me in two minds as to whether it will be worth changing. It would be nice for the practicality but if the ride is that much worse then maybe we will just have to put up with the small boot/hatchback.

Other brands of tyre can improve the Toledo ride & roadnoise markedly. My last one was on 17 Continental Premium Contact 2. It was much quieter (even with 35k on the tyres) and more grippy (until they had done about 27k) than the current one on new Bridgestone RE050A. I have also driven it on 17 Dunlop SP SportMaxx which were really loud - worse than the Bridgestone.

The handling on the standard suspension is fairly soggy though.
A set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs to drop it 30mm have been reported to give a massive improvement by both Rapid and Toledo drivers. These springs were the approved kit from Skoda UK.
