Hey.
I've been lurking in the shadows the last few weeks reading so many threads but ones that seem similar to me never seem to have a final answer or get derailed by folk just wanting to know about re gens.

So I've had my car 3 months now and last two months it's had a stutter.

Start car and it stutters and car physically judders but revs are sitting at usual 750ish,
No engine lights have come on for it (got ones for the abs issue but that's getting sorted)

So issue is, judders and stutters at idle but with the revs sitting normal and not even fluctuating.
Still get 50mpg on motorway trips.
Overall drive is still normal and powerful but has now got a slight hesitation (in last few weeks)
Has a slight burble noise in the exhaust.

Any ideas?

I've ordered the metal gasket with the small hole to give that a shot.

Any other ideas?
Anyone in Glasgow with vag com and can help me rule out maf?

Cheers

Had this myself to

Remove the egr valve and butterfly below it and clean thoroughly

Fiddly but not difficult

Hour tops including refitting

It smoothed out my idle slightly. My issue was more a stutter under acceleration.

I also fitted the reducer metal gasket at the same time. Be careful you don't drop it into the engine bay.

Ask me how I know......................

I've done the gasket change to the smaller holed gasket.

Started and still feels like there is a stutter/misfire,
Will take it to work and will see if it just needs bedded in.

If not, I'll still plan to take off egr and clean it up.

Anyone Glasgow area with vag com?

Cheers

So that I don't become one of the folk asking assistance then never posting results
Got egr off and it was gummed up, like what happens to the toilet after a night on the drink and a curry.
Overall seems to stutter less (have the small gasket on side)
But on the pipe that comes up from below, the seal on that was distorted so I want to replace it. Does anyone know the part number?

Cheers.

Yeah that pipe. The o ring around the top looked huge and distorted so I think it's probably causing a wee leak but not a big enough one to cause eml

Returned to post as I hate Un finished queries.

Had this stutter issue,
Got the metal gasket, still didn't resolve it.
Cleaned out the egr valve, still didn't resolve it.

Sort of gave up and just kept driving, yip bad I know.

Then put her in for oil and filter and asked garage to look at timing.

He said that it needed slightly adjusted but also wasn't out far enough
Out to throw up any errors.

Wow been driving it since service and it's like a whole new car.

So if your pd170 is stuttering then could be the timing.
