not a happy bunny,as discussed with a few peeps at the stealth RR day about a very annoying rattle I was getting on my cupra.

well after lots of non-fault diagnosis' by myself over a few weeks-I have finaly found the fault.

My bloomin uprated Nuespeed front 22 mm ARB has snapped on one of the end rose joints on the left front, not impressed to say the least!!!

I can only put it down to a poor quality made part as ive done no track days etc and I wouldn't consider myself a maximum pasty giver as some of the peeps are on here.

anybody had this happen to them?

Looking at the pic it's not actually surprising that it has failed for 2 reasons:

1) it looks like a pissy little clevis holding the rosejoin to the lower arm, bear in mind that an ARB can support the entire corner weight of the car statically, then add in the shock loadings and you can see over 500kg loading.

2) once again it shows that aftermarket people have absolutely no idea how a car actually works, or the funamental design principles involved, because that link design is never gonna last!. (as the wishbone pivots up and down it will move the end of the ARB, which is pivoting about a different point, hence as the 2 arcs move it requires the length of the bar to change, or in this case you end up putting huge sheer forces into the clevis. i'd put money on the fact that if you inspect the failure, you will see a shear failure begining on one side of the clevis, rather than a typical "necked" failure in vertical tension. The factory part uses a longer "link rod" to allow for the difference in wishbone and ARB arcs.

Hmmm...

Mines squeeking (excuse rodentine pun) at the front too. I'll have to check - cheers dude.

I note from the pic that it may have also been rubbing on your drivshaft gaitor?....

Nice bit of cadmium corrosion there! :p - i threw wax at mine...

Dor.

EDIT - The bush looks well deep in the wishbone....mine isn't that tight in there....

Mines still Ok... Mines a 25mm bar tho.
Freak of nature or perhaps assembled under tension from day one.. It took me ages to adjust it on assembly.

The joint is a Spherical Joint.

Speak with Awesome.. They should get you a replacement... (warranty claim)

yer sorry-mine is a 25mm also,got the 28mm on the rear too.

Looking at where it has snapped more closely the part is only approx 3-4 mm gauge steel.surely you would think it needs to be made of something of a more solid thickness to withstand the abuse and general nature of what this part is suppose to do:dunno:

Its not so much the rose joint that is weak, its the U bracket with the bolt welded on the bottom.

All the same if you can get hold of two of these heavy duty u brackets for me,I would be very interested.

Cheers

Awesome took the goosed one off me as they are gonna be in talks with Nuespeed about it and in turn gave me two new ones in replacement.

However if you can get/make something of more sturdier construction than the item that comes with the nuespeed kit I am all ears.

I will post a pic of the exact bit tht has let me down when I get my camera back from the mrs.
