Good Afternoon all,
I'm going to get rid of the egr on my 2007 Altea 2.0tdi.
The question i'd like answered is this....is just deleting the software in the ecu as efficient as physically removing the egr valve assembly + delete then fitting a blanking kit?
Apologies if this is a silly question but i want to get it right 1st time.
I was going to remove/delete the dpf until my mech informed me that my car didn't have one, just a cat! Happy days on that score.
Thanks in advance.

I's just as effective. Maybe consider getting a remap and they can turn the egr off at the same time.

Strictly speaking, turning off the EGR *is* a remap, as it will be done by removing the egr commands from the map and adjusting other parameters to take that into account.

Sorry for the delay in replying..... TBH i haven't noticed that much difference but it's a peace of mind thing knowing that there'll be no recirculated mix taking the place of the cool clean stuff in the chambers!

As buckshot said above I've not noticed a difference but it's peace of mind knowing it's one less thing that can go wrong.
