Steering wheel controls

Hi. I had no BT, and an RDC310 stereo in my Altea.

I have retrofitted an RNS510 and a BT unit, with factory mic etc, and phone and voice commands work fine.

The steering wheel controls work, but the voice control button just mutes the stereo, and the phone button seems to do nothing (or press and hold and it dials voicemail).

I assume I need to use vag com to change the use of these buttons?

Also, I have seen someone has managed to enable visual parking assist on the stereo too. Anyone done this? He's done it on a Leon, but would think it should work?

One more thing. iPod and iPhone don't work on the MDI input, just USB memory stick. Is there a special lead for this?

Thanks for any pointers :)

Optical Parking like this: http :// youtu.be / lXKLAVtbKUk

Many posts seem to say if you have only rear parking sensors it doesn't work, but this chap has it working?

For the MDI you need a VW ipod / iphone lead. Aftermarket ones don't work.

As for the steering wheel buttons etc. the unit needs coding y#to the car so that it will work correctly. If the car it came out of has a different configuration to yours then the coding will be all wrong.

I think in vcom, I need to change the steering wheel properties.

What is the button with phone symbol meant to do?
The microphone button is for voice control.
