White Dial Help Needed please!!!!!!!

Hi All

Ive managed to get my hands on a set of white dials for my 1.4s pre 1999 Ibiza. They are from a VW Polo. I was wondering where the mileage and trip counter memory is located. If I unplug my dash display and insert the Polo's one will I have my mileage or the polo's? Also will doing this f*ck up my car in any way?

Hope anyone can help. My local dealer did'nt have a clue.

Cheers

Tom

Well, depending on my imperfect knowledge, the electronics of the dials contain all the info on mileage, etc, including the immobiliser data so practically it will not work in your car. Not sure though...

Why not just take the dials out of the polo one? Or have I missed something?

Cheers

Well Ive had the polo one to bits. Its pretty awkward to get them off. They are put in with the idea of staying in. I think Im just going to have to live with orange dials.

Well, replacing the "front panel" only (so keeping your original Ibiza electronics) should actually work. This however would require you to take both units apart, if you would not risk damaging your working dials?

By the way, why don't you try some fancy dial stickers instead of replacing the whole unit?
