Question APR Trial tested/testing 21psi???

Just been up2 get my APR trial put on the car, after testing it on the way home...

I do find it has more power(not as much as i thought), the power delivery is quite a bit smoother. but overall i don't think i can justify £440 for it to be put on permanently.

I think i maybe have a good engine to begin with, prob putting out about 193hp or something.

Looking at the boost gauge though, it is topping out about 21.5 psi which seems alot for a cupra, considering standard is 10.5psi.

Can anybody advise on the boost, or anybody else had different experience with the APR trial?

Got it done up at cruise motorsport in kirkcaldy, got to say though that the place is top class, guys up there are sound!!!

Thanks

It takes a while for your ECU to adapt.

If you want instant results - reset your ECU (disconnect battery)

remap every time

private plates are OK, but are a pain in the @r$e evenutally as you start looking at moving them on. The air filter will make a difference, but not a massive difference. Enjoyment per pound the map has to win.

got to be a remap every time. private plates are ghay, and induction kits just get annoying after a while

Definately a Remap! Why even put an induction kit on a car that isn't remapped - the performance gains of an induction kit are neglible at best anyway!

Do you wanna be loud and slow, or fast and stealthy!!!!

hmmm
See the problem is that i dunno if i drive the car enough to justify the remap, cos to be honest i would say my driving "style" or "habbits" is more for showing off as it were...

I like ppl to look at the car n think "thats nice lots of money been spent on that" ie number plate and the sound of the induction kit.

Im more of a show off... lol

Although in terms of money its always nice to buy the most expensive things when you have the money, then just be able to save up the £200 for the induction kit, then 2 months down the line the £250 for the regy plate...

lol life so difficult decisions decisions lol

I totally agree on your last point - If you have £450 now, just do it , its gonna be easier to find £200 and £250 seperately in future.

Plus, you really want a remap sooner or later - you will start finding the std power a bit boring and crave that feeling like when you first drove it! I know I do, and I have a remap. makes me sad at times actually vv

nah nah, touching nothing bodywork wise, nothing that can be done really to make look any better, apart from maybe cupra R body kit n maybe the cupra R wheels but thats it, n even then talking £800 to get the kit, and doesn't need it to be honest.

Been out on motorway today up2 edinburgh, woowee so fast!!!. Quite funny cos puts that huge grin back on your face(remember the grin when you 1st got the car, can't stop smiling for like the 1st week of driving the car)

I dunno i dunno, sometime i feel like letting you guys spend my money...HAHA never!!!

I've got couple hours of trial left i reckon so hopefully make up my mind after that...

Anymore input would be appreciated though cheers.

Don't you feel like you have a new car with the remap? What good is a CAI and private plate anyways?

lol i like the sound of the CAI and i like having a private reg on the car.

But yeh now that the remap is working 100% now, it does kinda feel like a new car.

Im worried though bout the strain it is putting on the engine... today on my trip to edinburgh the boost gauge measured a peak of 23psi, more than double the standard.

Looking at private regys i quite like:

L30N GD for my intials
L30N XK looks kinda cool almost like XX
L30N XY Same reason
L30N XT same reason

Also anybody know what happens when trial runs out, forgot to ask the guy, aparently revert back to standard but is it standard Seat settings or APR's equivelent standard settings, because i would imagine that there must be additional software on the ECU counting down the hours and for it to flash new settings...

i have an APR stage one with ECMS programmed via the cruise control.
i have the benefit of switching among 4 modes.
its wondersome especially at midrange and topend.
gearchanges are rewarded with the ultimate blast as you accelerate
past alot of boy-racer cars.
when i am in a relaxed mode i simply switch it back to stock mode for a more civilised style of driving.
especially if the missus wants to take it for a spin. (i wont give it to her).
6 hours is not enough for me.
GET ONE MATE.

i would say if your happy with the performance and want a bit more show
go for induction kit and dv upgrade first
reg is personally upto you (but get one personal and not car specific)

as for the remap, get one when you get a little bored of the car ownership, as a remap is simple to upgrade and something to make the car more worthehile to keep then rather than change.

off the topic, what happens to the end of the trial? is it like revo, where it dumps it's own standard map on, and generally not as powerful or refined as oem?

Hi
Yes it will just go back to your standard map
Glad you liked it
We are APR dealers too , and we have soooo many customers coming back to us for the FULL map
WE had 1 TT sat at the front door on a Saturday morning at 8.30 waiting for us to open at 9am as his trial ran out
He was desperate to get the full map on
