As far as I'm aware part number 1M2 971 735 should power and illuminate the changer.
It's a VAG part with the male of the connector you show on one end and a mini ISO on the other for the head-unit.

Have a look at this. I know it's about a glove box changer but it should help.

Where I refer to Connect the leads up (only go one way :D) in the guide I mean pushing the male connector on the cable into the female connector on the changer.

Hopes this helps.
Regards Guy.

Not a problem mate! :)

You might want to look at this thread as well.
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=105070

If you have steering wheel controls on your car (you should have as it's the same car as mine I think) you'll have to GENTLY break/remove the large black plastic connector that carries the yellow remote control wire, whilst leaving the yellow wire and metal connector intact.

Once that's done buy a mini ISO block connector (like this)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Green-6-PIN-M...ryZ50423QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
and insert the remote control wire in the correct place in the block.
Suggest you buy this type of block as it's the middle one and allows you to insert the other 2 blocks later if you need them.

If you have any questions before you spend money or start doing the work post back here or you can PM me.

It will be sorted eventually.

Regards Guy.

I dont have the controls on my wheel unfortunately. My FR is the facelift version with heated/folding mirrors so not sure if that makes a difference.

Will pop to seat and fit it while in their car park. Will let you know how i get on

well.. the cable fitted and it all came on and powered up but the radio code needs entering and its not in any of my books.
Seat told me it would have to go on diagnostics for 30 mins to find out so i took it to a radio specialist who is doing it for £15

i'll get there in the end!

SORTED! at last.

Ok so finally got it all fitted after a few hiccups.

Costs
£89 for changer from ebay
£~22 for Lead to connect to changer 1M2 971 735 (p.s this is about 2 foot long so either cut and solder or hide 2ft of cables in the dash as i did.) they may make a short one but the seat garage i went to didnt have a clue.
£15 to have my alana HU decoded as it wasnt written in my manual so took it to a local (non seat) garage as seat wanted to charge me for 30mins on diag machine!££

So cost me £126 all told well worth it imo!

and Yes it lights up red.. here are the pics. im well pleased with it in the end.

Looks great James.

I wouldn't cut the cable.
If for some reason you take the changer out you can always sell it with the cable.

Hey fellas........newbie's first question so please have a bit patience with me:redface:

I pick up my Ibiza tomorrow and will be wanting to fit the in dash changer....I've read through this thread and a few others that JoonSpoon has linked to on the subject.

I was a bit confused at first....I profess to know less than nothing about ICE, I've always been into bikes more than cars, get in and drive kind of attitude........but can one of you kind people confirm that I've got this right here.

I need an in dash changer, the lead to power and illuminate the changer VAG part no IM2 971 732, the cage/tray to hold the changer and because my Ibiza has steering controls I will need to remove the yellow remote wire from its plug housing and fit it into the green central block that will fit into the central part of the top female connection on the Alana HU next to the lead coming from the changer???

If I've got this right I need one more thing confirmed......what exactly should I be typing into Ebay or where should I be looking locally to source the green connection block..........sorry I'm not up to speed with the names of any connectors or leads etc to do with ICE.

Thanks for any help in advance and thanks for your patience:clap:
