Seatbelt making me soooo angry,lol

Well this is a part Help me, part Rant thread.

Why does every Ibiza I have owned have to have THE worlds slowest seatbelt winder. I mean, I can leave the car, come back 3 hours later and my seatbelt still hasn't wound all the way back up Is this some special Spanish security feature to make sure that when a thief gets in the car, he shuts the unwound seatbelt in the door, meaning that he will be driving without a seatbelt on and so when he crashes he will think twice about nicking another Ibiza.

But what I'm really trying to get to....... Has anyone rebuilt the seatbelt winding mechanism? Is it hard to do or get to. Does it help? Or should I once again just get used to winding up the seatbelt by hand .

if I remember correctly, I had this on my 1.4 when I bought it from the dealer still under warranty....

their cure was to 'trim' the loop that the belt goes through on the b-pillar, and to apply some silicone grease to it, to make the belt slide through it easier.....

worth looking at !

i've just worked out that the best thing to do is to leave your seat belt resting at the edge of your seat, so when you get in the car you can easily get to it to put it on, it also helps when getting out the car as you can just shove it there rather than faff about with putting it back. i find it just rests on the bucket bit of the seats (if that makes any sense)

Mine sometimes returns by itself.. other times it doesn't.. I'll live with it.

Same problem in MK2/3 Golfs as well. Have heard of dub owners changing the retensioners, Might be worth looking at?

This is one of the most annoyin niggles with the mk2! jus seems a bit lame especially wen u got a passenger n they look at u as if ** car is pikey. My ex always takes the piss.
I agree with the above. I just leave mine resting on the chair but wen i cum back normally it has winded itself rite the way up agen.

Wow, a mk2 ibiza under warranty, that must have been aaaaaages ago
Will try and trim the loop, but not sure about greasing it, because that would just grease up the seatbelt and therefore I'd have a nice grease stripe across my T-shirt.

Bit off topic, but today I have been doing a lot of searching on the forum and seen lots of double stars, like this **. And it was bugging me for about 2 hours, because I don't know of any 2 letter swear words. And I have just figured it out. Seems that the text version of the word "your" is now considered a swear word Yet actually swear words aren't blanked out, (for example: ** a bitch) I never use da txt spk, but still.

Mine works fine!

Though my friends ibiza is m-reg and doesnt work at all!
It was hilarious one of my friends was getting out of the back and got her foot stuck in it, I've never seen anyone fall over so badly! her legs were in the car and her face was on the floor!

Hilarious!

So there are some advantages to it not working!
