Custom FMIC vagcom results :)

Hi for all of you who havnt seen my previous posts heres a recap, I bought a universal intercooler off ebay for around £100, i then used intercooler pipes off a Ford Focus C-Max and some straight metal pipe to make the pipework. In all it cost me around £140. The intercooler looks the part imo but as there would be lots of critasism over wether or not it actually works. Heres a few pics of the intercooler itself.

Now after getting a ebay cable off a friend and spending ages trying to download the correct drivers and correct vagcom. . . and get the interface working, i finally managed to get vagcom working. I measured block 01-004 and got the following results

As you can see i was very happy, The log was done in 4th gear approx 40-120mph (private road) and even at 5200rpm the max temp i saw was 30 degrees C.

This just goes to show that you dont need to spend £££'s to get good results, i hope this shows people that it can be done the custom way, cheap, but also working well, and is also an alternative for those who have a tight budget.

All comments welcome as i would like feedback on this and your views, Cheers.

Just for info, 5200rpm in 4th is 102mph. (assuming your on standard alloys+tyres)

I've done a comparison between your logs and some ive done of my car.

In 4th, from 2k to 5k (30mph - 100mph) your car takes 30 seconds, and mine take 18seconds.

Were you full throttle during the log above?

Yeh its on a standard map as i say approx because i just had the laptop on the passanger seat and pressed start before going full throttle, then i concentrated on the road, i was quite happy with this tho but as you say good point about the remap and boost levels, im going to be fitting my k03s soon and then gettin it mapped and exhaust so we will see.

If i go out and log, initially the temps go up to around 35'C, after a few runs the SMIC saturates and temps peak at 50'C.

So is the run above a 1 off, or did you consistently get a max of ~30'C?

k03s mapped to around 23psi will make things a hell of alot hotter under the bonnet. If you are already seeing intake temps of 30 degrees (what was the ambient temp) with standard boost. It will be interesting to see how well it can cool the intake temps when you fit your turbo and get it mapped

Also worth logging airflow maybe? See if the custom cooler is any more restrictive than the standard item.

I'll do P-loss too

Not tonight, since I've had a couple of beers, but might do some on the way home/to rockingham

Seems high for a 9 psi standard map, would be interesting to see what others see standard as I never really have logged one.
