Talking Its sitting in bubblewrap at my dealers! Woo Yay!

My Black Leon Cupra R has arrived nearly two months early and is now sitting at my dealers (Letchworth) having been transportered up yesterday! Woo yay!

I had to go to the dealers tonight anyway to get the part-ex price on my Golf sorted and give them my insurance details for taxing the R. ...And there she was! Sitting stealthily round the corner from the workshop. I got handed the keys and sat inside. :dance2: The car was still covered in bubble wrap and protective tape... it looked most odd Cant drive her away until next week.

Hurry up with that loan transfer Northern Rock damn you Arghh, the weekend wait is gonna kill me!

Valver
PS Two things I spotted on my car - I didnt order Recaros, but the seats in mine had the large red R symbol emroidered on them. I dont remember that on my demo car I test drove... or was I just blind? :dunno: Also, the internal door knob handles were gone... you know the ones that pop up and down as you do the central locking...

Weekend wait......I've got 3 weeks to go!!!

R on seats is standard on seats. Makes the recaros look odd with both recaro and R on it!!!.

Did it have the drivers side door have the popup thing with led or not???

Don't forget to take it easy, with cadbury's caramel, err i mean keep it under 4k to let the brakes and tyres bed in.

Congrats !!! :dance1:

The pop-up buttons are recently discontinued, thus adding security.

All you have to do now is drive it away and never, ever take it back to their Service Dept!!

PS - You were blind!

Cheers guys! How excited am I?!!

Sorry Bluehaze, but I prolly wont bump into you. I wont be getting it Monday morning, it'll either be midafternoon, or first thing Tuesday... I'm sure we'll meet soon enough though

Brian - are Letchworth a bit crap in the service department then (insert obligatory legal waffle bit!!) ...in your opinion? I keep hearing good things about Cheshunt, and that's actually nearer to where I work, so might be better for any service /warranty realted stuff. Worth swapping maybe?

Yak - hang in there mate! Those 3 weeks will fly by I'm sure <cough> As for me taking it easy, I'll be pootling like I'm driving Miss Daisy on Day 1 I should think. Got get the feel of the car before I start doing anything too grin inducing.

Worst horror in the world: binning your brand new car on the first day you get it!

Valver (now off down the pub for a pint or three)

Bluehaze,

I'm not being facetious here, but it maybe a good idea for Martin in sales to inspect the paintwork on your car and sign an appraisal report before it goes into the Service Dept, as a few people on here have had their cars badly scratched by them.

As I say, I'm not being petty or nasty, I'm just re-itterating what I've read on here.

IMO and many others on here....Yep their Service Dept is crap.

As I've said before on here, Cheshunt are not Gods but a damm sight better than the L word and rank alongside the best, a bit dearer than Letchworth but site members get a discount - see Preferred Dealers Section on Main Site.

Nothing is 100%, ask the punter I let down the other week!

But 100% care and effort to please is the main priority, Cheshunt do that.

Bluehaze - I ordered my new Cupra from SMC Windsor on the strength of their service Dept. Sales guys are top notch and really know their stuff too, I understand that they are quite popular and may actually be planning to expand the premises to cope!

I travelled to find and buy from them 'cos I didn't trust Focus in Camberley.

I've survived this weekend without going stiR-crazy and my loan money has turned up in my account this morning...

If the dealer can get his butt into gear and get the car registered and taxed today, then I should be able to pick her up this evening!

Yes!

Nice one

They do seem to lack a sense of urgency at Letchworth,

Mine is sitting in the workshop, may see you if i ever get it back today, called in at 13.00 today to check on turbo problem, promised a call as soon as the guys finished lunch, still waiting at 15.00

I would take it somewhere else like cheshunt for servicing, brian27 said they are as good as it gets

:car:

And I've picked her up! I'm just grinning from ear to ear

I just love everything about the R. In my first few hours with the car here are my thoughts, just as they fall out of my head... The interior is excellent, I like the co-ordinated red and black look that extends to the lights and dash. I particularly love the feel of the steering wheel. The new smell... mmmm. The outside is fantastic, I still cant get over the fact that I own wheels that look this good :cool2:

I'm desperately trying to drive slowly. But it's not easy is it lads? I had the TCS flashing at me cheekily as I pulled away at an uphill roundabout which was nice. The push and sense of urgency even at 1/3rd throttle around 3K revs is just grin inducing. Cant wait to open her up properly once shes run in - on a dual carriage way or similar...

The drive down the A1 from Letchworth to Welwyn was a bit gutting as it was raining and the trucks made my new car filthy in about 2 seconds... and how nervous was I that I was gonna bin it on Day 1?

Bluehaze - I saw your car (yellow, right?) parked up. Mine was in the workshop being polished and dried when I arrived around 4.30pm. Hope they fix any problems quickly, especially the turbo thing. Let me know how you get on with Letchworth... obviously I have a real interest in after sales service now

Valver
PS Photos coming soon (once I can nab the digi camera from work!)
PPS Interior mats? Any reccomendations?

Valver,

Glad you are enjoying your car, yes mine's the yellow one reg DN52***

Not to be confused with their demonstrator

They are awaiting a new induction pipe on back order from Spain/germany see my post Yellow banana or lemon!?

As for service they dont appear to be particularly helpful or attentive as Brian had said some people have had their car scratched at Letchworth too, I not saying they are cr*p but i have experienced better service elsewhere, i would give cheshunt ago if i was you.

See you on the 2nd March unless we have a Monday club meet in feb!?
