Ibiza TDi Sport 130

Hi,

I am thinking of buying an Ibiza TDi Sport 130 within the next few months (just need to get some cash together).

I have a few queries.

1. Is it possible to get different colour wing mirror covers and side rubbing strips. The uk spec is black on sport models or body coloured on SE models. If not how easy is it to paint them?

2. What is the biggest wheels you can get on without having to modify anything. I want to put a new set on cos I don't like the look of the standard ones, and I don't see the point in replacing 16s with 16s so I wanna get at least 17s.

3. Does anyone have any pics of the interior of a standard sport model, I'm thinking about getting some optional extras, but it would probably be cheaper to get non Seat stuff and fit it myself.

4. Any other usual info on uprated breaks and suspension would be appreciated.

I think thats about it for now.

Oh yeah, and go easy on me, this is by first post.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers

Good choice on the 130 its a very quick car. As you can see from my signature I've got 17s on mine but RPM did one a while back with 18s. The brakes a very good anyway and cope well even with the extra Revo power. RB5 has had the lower front and rear valences and the wing mirrors sprayed on his and should be able to give you a price and where he had them done, as he is local to you. I don't know of anyone having the side strips done yet but I'm sure its on the cards for a number of people. Revo upgrade is the top mod to get done and allows you to compete with the ibiza cupra R boys on here and show them how good a Diesel can be. I've fitted KW coilovers to my car and lowered it quite a bit. They give a very comfortable ride and the handling has greatly improved. I would recommend getting a SEAT sport strut brace as for £50 its a brilliant handling upgrade.

I don't think anyone has left the interior as standard. Lots of people are changing the vent surrounds ( check the TDi forum for the thread ) I have a few pics of what it looks like after you match the vent surrounds to the dial surrounds.

Welcome to the forums.

Hi, welcome along.

As Simon (Rage) said, I had the rear valance, handles and mirrors painted. It cost £170+VAT from Exon in Exeter which is the bodyshop SMC Exeter use. It makes a huge difference to the look, although the brighter colours will be most noticeable.

Again as Simon said the brakes are pretty good. I'd only change the ABS on them (it's a bit keen) but they stood up to a fair few laps of the track on Sunday without a problem (my ABS was on every time into the top corner - anyone else?). Handling is pretty good as well but they do look a bit high. I'd be more inclined to lower it for looks than outright handling improvement, but I've only driven mine so I don't know how much better Simon's would feel having been lowered. I have been in it and it does ride a bit smoother as well as look way better.

My signature has a link to pics of my car with interior shots etc. as well as to a thread offering it for sale - if you fancy a local(ish) car already mostly modded and in the best colour give me a shout

I forgot to say, mail or PM me if you want to see any / all the pics in a decent size (6.5Mb for the lot  )

I have a Sport, although it is a 1.4 petrol, I still have to say it is a great piece of kit!

I am getting my side strips, mirrors, door handles and valances sprayed soon, I don't think it will be ready for GTI International but hopefully some stuff will be done by then.

I have 17" Audi TT competition alloys waiting to go in, and also have some TT front seats going in as soon as me and m0rk can get a weekend free.

Rage, where did you get your instrument panel surrounds from? They are just what I need for mine at the moment!

Thanx to everyone for the quick replies.

Rage, I take it your 17s went on with no modifications!?

Got another question too:

As an accessorie, you can get the light surround painted red or yellow for about £160. Any ideas how easy this would to do it urself after the car was bought?

Cheers

No mods to the arches yet. I am tempted to take out a bit of the arch liner. Due to some poor design on SEATs part the liner sticks out into the wheel well about an inch. I do get some rubbing under hard cornering and big speed bumps. I could wind the suspension up a bit but I like it at the level its at now.

As for the Lights I don't know about getting them painted.

Rage, how much lower than standard have you gone? I probably wanna go about 30mm, is that reasonable/worth it?

Cheers

I have no idea how much lower it is. To give an indication though I can get 1 finger in between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch.

I should hopfully pick mine up in about a week. whooopee..

Do you thing the strud brace makes that much of a diff?

Fen is right about the looks when the car is lowered, i makes a bigdiff much cleaner. I mean even Simons blue one looks good...lolss

But sreiously, you cant really put 18"s on it without altering the gearing buy about 10%, thats a bit too much for most people. But even just lowering is the buisness. I want to kkep mine as standard as possible, make burning GTI & BMW drivers all the better.

Anyone know how much for a good quality set of lowered springs? And how much to fit??

Anyway good choice, diesel is the way forward!

Cheers mate, I reckon they could fit mine, the speedo and revometer shouldn't be different to mine. Do you know if you can get them in chrome/aluminium?

My TT seats are heated black leathers from a roadster, the same as in my girlfriend's dad's 180 TT. I paid £325 for the two fronts from Neuskool, who is registered on here. He frequents Edition 38. Hopefully with Marks help we can get them in soon!

They do a chrome set as part of the soft dash kit in Europe.

I think the instrument surround is the same in the TT and the Mk4 Ibiza (maybe the whole dash structure - anyone fancy a TT dash?) so you may be able to get TT ones.

I'd be interested to know how easily they go in. Are they just a straight swap. Do you need new mounts ?

I wish you could get them in aluminium. Yellow is the only option and only on cars with the imp yellow trim. Red ones get nowt.

I'll be in my girlfriend's dad's TT with a tape measure then!

I dont understand why the Imp Yellow got the surrounds while Imp Red got bland black things. The chrome items that I have are a definate improvement!

I've not been in a TT but I was next to one in traffic yesterday and happened to notice that the instruments look very similar and the central air vents are in the same place. Andyb and I had a chat about it tonight and since the Leon has the A3 dash and earlier Ibizas had Polo dashes it seems possible that there are shared components.

I will give it a go, just depends if her dad will let me.

Failing that, I will contact AAT and see if they can source the chrome ones for me.

Will putting the dial surrounds in on a 1.4 Sport work? The TDi Sport has Battery Power and Oil Temp inidicators while the 1.4 don't.

I'd be interested to know if you can get them and how easy they are to fit, I'm gonna go for the Imp Red interior when I eventually buy mine, so I want to change the black surrounds, either that orput a red dial kit in, can you get those for the newer Ibizas??

Anyone know of any good companies (preferably with online catalogues) that I can have a look at to get some ideas of mods and prices. And is there anywhere where I can get info on the REVO tuning?

Cheers
