Red face Vag com & the devils dildo PLEASE HELP

Hi all,

Last week i made the dreaded decision to get an new laptop as my old windows XP one had seen better times.

As you can guess the boffins down the local PC world were biggin up Vista saying if the best thing since sliced bread, However after a reluctant purchase i ended up with this devils dildo of a laptop which nothing seems to work on it ARGH !!!!

Now i have got that out of my sysyem, can anyone help me work Vag com with vista as it seems to try comunicating with my car then crashes.

I have tried runing it in compatibility mode, and not sure if i have the correct drivers even though device manager says there is no problems.

running vag com 409.1 i belive.

Please Please Please can you help ????

Stewart,

Uninstall Vista and wait for SP2 to come out

Vista is still full if issues and people using it in the home market are just the test guinnie pigs

No one in buisiness uses it. Stick with XP.

Also, Vista won't work with any versions before 704....

Try downloading the latest one mate and see if that works. On the Ross-Tech site, they do say that they have tested it with vista with no issues after v 704..

Vista doesnt work with a lot of the huge brands of peripherals so the fact that ross-tech may or may not have caught up yet doesnt surprise me.

but if you are looking for the best compatability with devices then you are safer with XP for now.

As long man says above, check with ross-tech of you have one of their devices.

Version 704 is Vista compliant. What version are you running that crashes? One of the older versions - 311 or 409? 311 was released in November of 2003. 409 was released in September of 2004. These will never work with Vista. We do not plan to go back and make them work. We will make present and future releases Vista compliant. Make sense?

I'm running 409.1 with Vista Home Premium with no problems.

Have you set the ports up correctly within VAG-COM ?

I'm also using 409-1 on Vista, install it using Vistas XP compatibility feature and set it to run with admin privilages and to run like it would on XP. Then disable Vista UAC (google it).
