would you need to swap wiring, would it not be a case of swapping the lense and possibly the bulb(if its coloured over). Should be doable aimez

It depends on which side the fog light needs to be (either UK or Euro application) UK the fog light has to be on the drivers side for the car to pass the MOT - having 2 fog lights - one on each side is legal too (so long as the drivers side one works)

I would was going to buy some aftermarket rear lights and didn't because the fog and reverse lights were for a european application. could be tricky to swap over.

http://www.motester.co.uk/forums/forum3/565.html these are MOT testers that what they said so it wont work without taking the lights apart.
Want to use German rear lights on my car basically, dont need a reverse light to pass MOT (however need to be blocked out if not in use) but do need a fog on the right or middle of car.

Guinness couldnt do it swapping the lenses without swapping the wiring cos when you put it in reverse the fog would come on? Would need to swap the lenses thou as fog needs to be on the right

oh so a reverse light isnt needed? so could have two fog lights and no reverse light?

or what about if you had two reverse light units, but wire the fog light to one and put a red bulb in it

would both of these be legal?

If there is a reverse light it has to work, same as anything on car it has to work if its there. Problem is the fog HAS to be on the right side to be MOT legal. I would pull the fog switch and the fog would work but be on the wrong side of car so fail MOT still?
This is getting confusing now!

Yes they would be so long as the red bulb is legal.

It would need to be CE marked after tinting.

That's not true.

It has to work if it is required to be there. So for example if you have broken front fog lights on your car, that doesn't matter for the MOT test, because front fog lights are not required - it doesn't matter that they're fitted to your car and not working. I know this from experience.

A broken rear fog light would be a different matter. That would fail the MOT test because a rear fog light is a requirement.

So the same rule would apply to your reversing light: If it's not required, then it isn't even part of the MOT test. Doesn't matter if it's present but not working.

ah ok so i really only need the fog to be on the right and working, would rather have reverse as well really for car parks. I got the idea that it had to be working if present from people on here! The mot forum i went on didnt answer that part of my question at least you know from experience not just saying what you think!
