Aux in stuff, but i think im close! Need a little help though

I have a 03 Ibiza with the standard non MP3 Alana head unit.

I have a PDA that i want to use to play music, it comes out of a 3.5mm jack so think of it as an ipod.

So, i bought one of these cables, but found the HU needs some kind of input from a CD changer to say its actually there. Im assuming the connects2 is so expensive because it emulates this?

Anyway, with no way of my telling my Head Unit that there is infact a CD changer connected, i started looking at the MP3 head units from the newer models, which i know have a dedicated aux in. Trouble is, they arent cheap and ive already spent a fortune on various other parts!

This is the rear of the new 2007 MP3 Alana HU with aux in (down by the handbrake?).




I was expecting to see phonos, but its another mini iso connector (top right). So i might be able to use the cable above after all, but i need someone to confirm that these new Head Units do not need an input from a CD changer etc to activate the aux channel?
