It'll not be the remap, unless it's been reflashed with stock software (been in the dealers lately?).

More likely to be the MAF or other problem, like the nut behind the steering.

Vag-com for a fault code, or just some logging would/might find it.

You could try a reset - write down your radio code, then disconnect the battry for 10 mins.

Yeah, I did. Just poking a little bit of fun, you never know, you might be doing something wrong...

Not sure where you are, but a little trip to Awesome would sort it, I'm sure.

Are you getting the correct number of flashes when switching between maps? Just wondering if you have locked it to the stock version?

If your car has an APR emcs chip fitted then its not going to be a simple refalsh back to stock..it will require hardware removal and a stock chip refitting before that can happen.
You probably need to ask the previous owner how the sw was installed, if it was obd then no problem just getting a simple reflash to stock.

I would get Awesome to check it out tho, it may be something really simple and daft, you could get your remap back to life for very little effort and £??

Are you getting the flashing engine light to enable you to switch between programmes i.e. 1 flash Programme 1, 2 flashes = programme 2 etc and so on??

If not then you need to re enter the security lock down code which Awesome will have unless you have got the code. You do this via the cruise stalk. I won't tell you how as it will compromise security of the software but Awesome will talk you through.

As Ian mentioned that could be the issue. Do you know if the car has security lock out on it? IS the cruise control functioning as it should normally? If the cruise isnt working then this could be down to something like a brake pedal switch fault, this in turn would stop the switching programs from working.

Being an LCR i'd pretty much guarentee that it is a diarect port remap. If you can get to us to check that would be great, otherwise there is an APR dealer in Kirkcaldy which would be a bit closer to you. They would be able to plug the car in and see what software is on the car.

Once the program has been selected on the cruise control, you need to turn the engine off and leave it for 10 seconds before you turn the car over. I made that mistake and thought the map was knackered.
