Tank far from empty

Hi
On my 130 TDI when the miles remaining reads zero, and fuel guage is pretty close to empty I fill her up and yet can only get about 36 litres in. By my reckoning, theres another 10 litres of fuel remaining. Both guages appear to be rather pessimistic. Any other 130 TDI owners getting similar results?
Cheers

Have you tried operating the air vent lever just inside the fuel filler. If you hold this down with the nozzle you can get at least an extra 8 litres in the tank but be warned watch for fuel blowing back so take it steady.

Could be wrong but iv heard that doing that is a bad idea, i think there needs to be a bit of air in the top of the tank to allow for expansion or something and thats what that button does.

Happens on all I think. I don't have a 130 but have the same thing happening. As Aceman mentions you can use the air vent thingy. It should only be used when your driving quite a few miles afterwards (something to due with the fumes during hot wheather). The toledo has a 55l fuel tank, but when using the air vent I always get 55l or more litres in.
