What exactly is a revo?
Is it a replacement ECU, or and add on chip like a Dastek? And what exactly is an sps1, 2,3 etc?!?! Whats the difference.
What does the chip alter in the engine? The pressure of the turbo? What bar is it at normally? Cheers Regards Stu |

basically it's new software that gets uploaded to your ECU via the diagnostics port, so is non invasive (nobody solders to your ECU) the SPS units provide switching to various levels to adjust from Stock (standard) to tuned in various levels their website explains it pretty well - failling that call them on 01327 301901 Ask for Kev M

so, you could like have the normal ECU settings, and then press something and have the modified setting?

More of a switching unit. which isn't as instant as you make it sound. It takes about 5-10 seconds to switch between programs and the ignition switched on and off during the process. Most people I've spoken to tend to leave it on as fuel economy is largely unaffected under carefull driving and the performance is addictive.

I've had a look at their website, and this product seems wicked!
With the SPS3 then, you can alter how much boost the turbo is pushing out? If you have a nitrous system on to reduce turbo lag, could the unit control that? Regards Stu |

Stu,
To my knowledge, (Guys correct me if iam wrong) Nitrous does not work well on the 1.8T engines. If you were to do this you would need a seperate controller anyhow. |

oh right. i was thinking that if the boost was up high, with nitrous there may be a problem with too much pressure, and you would risk blowing the head gasket?

OK, no nitrous then. lol. can the revo be used to reduce turbo lag? I supopse not, because the turbo still needs to spin up doesn't it.
And how do you work the little black box? I think if I did it I would get the SPS3, so that I could adjust the turbo boost. Regards Stu |

SPS3 has a 10 position switch to change the boost settings
M PS - also can adjust the timing for different fuels etc

When the new program is uploaded to the car, is it specific to what the car is running or is it a standard progam? For example, if I had an enclosed induction kit, new manifold & decat on the car, would the new mapping be adjusted to get the best out of these.... or not?

No there is a set mapping for each type of ECU but they are not customised for your mods.

No, it's a standard map as far as i'm aware, you can get specific maps from other companies but they aren't stealth like Revo which is a major attraction for many people.

well, the thing i like about the revo is the serial port programming bit, especially the adjustable boost settings and the security features. Shame it's not specific. Does anyone else offer these types of features with a chip? What happens if i want the cams done, because they need the ECU adjusting so that the idle will work properly won't they?
If the revo is just a standard setup thing, can I get it sent to me, and let me do it myself then? I'm in Jersey you see, and I don't believe that there is a dealer here. I would have to fork out £500 odd quid on getting over to the UK mainland. Plus I won't pay the VAT if I get it sent here. Regards Stu |

What sort of car have you got/are you getting? Cams seem a bit overkill. Having driven in Jersy I cant see where you'd go to enjoy the power?????

At the moment I've got a saxo VTR, but I'm looking into an Ibiza 1.8 20v Turbo. Dunno what it's like on the ibiza, but on the saxo, liek £800 odd would get you a set of cams & a dastek to smooth out the idle. Don't ask me the details, cause I never had it done! Just seemed like if you then had a nice cold feed from an enclosed induction kit, increased boost on the turbo, fast road cams, new manifold & decat and a less restrictive exhaust.. oh and a revo, the car would be running nice and powerfully! lol. Okay, it would get expensive, but if it was done over time it would be okay!
And you can still easily enjoy the power over here, we have endless numbers of country roads to hammer on, there is the 5 mile road (which lives up to it's name)... and I'm off to uni at the end of the year (yes with the car) so hopefully I can find a track over there where i can do some safe fast driving! lol Regards Stu |

Paying for the 'stealth' of revo is pointless then with alll these mods, plus, you will need a more specfic map to benefit from the extra work you intend. Try AmD or Jabba.
