Thought it was about time I did a readers ride's thread of my car.

My car is a 1998 (S) Mk2 Ibiza 1.4 Estillo in Alpine White. Bought the car in December 2005/January 2006 from my local Seat Dealer. It had 2 previous owners and 75,000 miles on the clock. Also had full service history as it came with a folder of every receipt of work that had been done, IIRC it even has the receipt when it was bought new. And a full tank of fuel!! :p :D (was traded in with that! :funk:[B)]) Only went looking at it, didnt intend to buy it but I took it for a test drive and that was it, I had to have it.

I bought it as a completely standard car so I dont have any pictures of it standard. Fitted a JVC headunit the weekend after I got it but it stayed like that for 5/6 months. Then I did my first major change, wheels.

Went for a set of 15" Aez Xylo's. Got them for a good price.

Im back to standard rear lights now.

Then a month later I fitted a mesh grille and centre console and leather gear and handbrake gaiters as it was a basic model it didnt have one.

Still havent had any problems with the police with them, even with the slash cut out the zero. Not much else was done to the car over the winter.

Then in September I fitted a set of 6000K HIDs (Low beam) and white LED numberplate bulbs.

Before:

After:

I had just finished the fitting of them in the last picture.

Number Plate bulbs:

They are much brighter than that now. During this month I also finished my simple boot build I made and fitted my new Audiobahn subwoofer and perfectly matched Amplifier. The boot build is able to be removed if required. Pictures of this to follow.

Then during a dry week in October when I was off work I decided to clean out the rear arches properly, including removing the arch liners.

Before (same both sides)

and this fell out both sides:

And after once it was clean:
Ibiza022.jpg

Ibiza023.jpg

They arent that clean now as my car is an everyday car.

I also fitted my Gti interior light with built in auto-dimmer function.

The car also had the timing belt and power-steering/alternator belts changed in October aswell. And by the sounds of the garage that did it I had a lucky escape with the timing belt.

Said it before and i'll say it again, she's an absolute minter! I love the way you've modded it too, lots of little things that come together to make a big difference, like the carbon fibre trim. You'ved stayed away from glaringly obvious things like mahoosive roof spoilers that can look overdone. The interior console is a million times improved and the fact that you haven't gone for halfords bargain bin stuff in there is great.

Maybe if you scout around you could get some side skirts for it as i thing they would complete the look.

Bodywork problems arent obvious to me and i think white takes scratches well, but i can understand you wanting to get it fixed, mine needs som obvious and some not so obvious bits repairing but its all part of the fun.

I'm probably gonna steal the carbon fibre idea as i really like that, i'm hoping to turn mine into a 16v clone with the leather and wheels without the 16v mechanical nightmares....... If i can get the clutch to lighten up as for the miles i do its beggining to hurt now.

She isnt that mint. But she is in good condition to be used as an everyday car. Handles so well too which makes her fun to drive. I just had to get a centre console as it looked so bare without one, same with the door pockets. I aint really into the whole bodykit/massive spoilers thing. Dont get me wrong, I read like Fast car etc but none of those things look right on the Ibiza, subtle is much better with these cars.

I am trying to get hold of a set of side skirts but I'm stuggling so far, but I will keep up the hunt.

There is a dent on the passenger side rear wing, just the other side of the door. I pulled it out as best I could but you can just see it. Theres the usual supermarket/car park dings on the door and front wings and the front bumper and bonnet is all chipped. Theres also a tiny bit of rust on the drivers rear wing but I mean its tiny. One good thing is that I dont have the 'rusting rear arches' problem. Dont have any signs of rust at all there, just on the very lip where the panel ends, but that will be fixed in the better weather. I want to get the car looking really good as I just cant face selling it as I've put alot of money/time into it and dont want any other car tbh, hence why Im really considering the engine conversion.

The decals fitted on the rear part of the B-Pillar aint perfect, they are all wrinkled etc but you only see it when the door is open. Really want a set of Ronals/Mk2 Cupra wheels refurbing in Gun-metal/anthracite.

Time for abit of an update , not much more has been done but this last week has been a disaster.

Firstly my exhaust decided to start blowing so now I need a new one.
My the volume/ok button on my headunit decided that it no longer wanted to work, so Ive had to take it out and its away for repair as its within the warrenty period.
And I kerbed my front driver side wheel in the snow. Wasnt going fast, lucky if I was doing 10 mph and just touched the brakes, hardly any pressure and the car decided to keep going straight, couldnt do antything about it, I was a passenger in the whole thing. Luckily theres no other damage been done, i.e drive-shafts etc.

Im still trying to get hold of a set of sideskirts. But that will have to wait until my exhaust is done. Plus I have my insurance to renew this month.

It could have been worse than it was. Everything was alright with the car aswell. Im going to give the wheel a diy refurb with one of those kits you can get and I will get some paint matched. As long as it looks better as its an everyday car so doesnt have to be perfect.

I was going to go and look at a mk1 Leon Fr TDI (05 reg) last weekend but with the way the banks/financial situation is I wouldnt of got finance on it.

So Im going to keep the Ibiza for abit longer before I buy another car.

Started repairing the wheel today. Going to have to build it back up with the filler/primer stuff, then it will be rubbed smooth, painted then laquered. Wont be perfect but will be better than a scuff/dent.
