vagcom help

just got my ebay cable to work on my freeware version of vagcom, i had to change the port for the usb cable from the default com8 to com2 with thanks to nogutsnoglory on my thread in mk3 ibiza section,

Anyway, i open vagcom select the correct com and press test and it finds it and i save the com port.

i go into first page again and press the auto scan button button, i then chose ibiza 6K version and press start, it starts scanning address 1 and came up no fault codes, it then starts to scan address2 but a window pops up and says.

"windows has found a fault with vagcom and has to close, it will find a solution if there is one"

What does this mean, i cant find wots wrong as it doesnt list any list any problems and offer any solutions.

Is it my cable, vagcom or laptop??

I cant get vag-com to work with vista. Been trying for ages, gave up now and just bought a little plug and play code reader for now.

thing is it keeps cutting out daily now, and it was on a diagnostic comp on sat and didn't bring up any faults, want to run vagcom on it as it is specifically for our cars not just a genral diagnostic programe and can do more testing.
