08 1.4 TSI Seat Leon MK2 Stylance / Sports Pack / Black Magic

Quite a chunk about my car's information and also about the TSI engine hope its all readable!
Something I put together within an hour or so, I couldn't sleep during that time so thought I kill some time by starting this off.

Rolling Road @ Willfield Motors – Abercynon
Quoted “He may not have modern equipment, his fan is on its limit but when it comes to experiance this guy has it in buckets compared to any of the new outfits in the area.”

Date: 08/02/09 – PowerRun non-modded leon (completely standard)
Norm power > 141.5BHP
Torque > 226 Nm

untitled2gr4.jpg

untitled3hq2.jpg

untitled4nu6.jpg

After that ...

Modifications:

• Forge Blow Off Adapter (aka Dump Valve) no performance gain but I enjoy the woosh
• Forge ShortShifter (6-Speed) This was redesigned by Forge again as the orignal one was completely different?
• Forge Carbon Open AirFilter : It makes the car sounds like dark vader when he is breathing ..my best way of describing
• custom Remap 20-30% gain with performance better air flow smooth performance better MPG

TSI Leon is new, it has the Latest Generation of ECU, the ecu is a MED17 <<<(this what you need to quote for remappers)
It has a liquid cooled intercooler and a small turbo charger

*note my car does not have an intercooler kinda sad but I will investigate this!*

BIG THANKS to Forgemotorsports for the development of the car and the interest for the car very kind and helpful always replied back to emails no complaints at all will always recommend them to friends and car clubs forever.

Yes one thing you will notice is the BATTERY COVER “why has this dude got a volkswagen part in there?” I ordered the parts from Volkswagen came to a total of 15quid!? Took the "stock" cover off and replaced it with the brand new cover instead
It looks way better (hope seat would make this standard for future leons! BTW its easy to fit, LIFT THE BATTERY, REMOVE THE OLD COVER, FIT THE NEW COVER KINDA LIKE LEGO, DROP THE BATTERY IN AND JOB DONE (10MINS).

(if you want further information) go on to err this link.

http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/tra...2959.htm?sid=6661372ea175825d41f4f903a15dd475

Anyways moving on...

After having it modded by FORGE I decided I needed an exhaust system, so the next day I went down to "WELSH COAST CUSTOMS" (After 2 hours... anew Powerflow cat-bat system was made).

27763446.jpg

The sound is set to MID SPORT - Not the loudest one.
When driving normal "not going over 2k rev" it will sound just like a normal exhaust
BUT when you go over 2k and shooting up 4k it produces a very deep boom
am addicting to tunnels and hearing the echo from the exhaust its absolutely sensational! combined with the dump valve :)

Future Tuning ?
I have a huge to do list for this car and I do not plan to stop anytime soon but I won't tell until I do it. The car is booked again for another PowerRun next Monday morning so I will see how much she has gained from all the performance tuning thats been added to her.

I let friend drove the leon as standard and thought it was bliss! and now he has driven it yesterday he basically crapped himself with the difference. (He now wants to do the same tuning I did for my car but for his Seat Ibiza) lol
I am hoping for more developments coming for this engine soon as am sure this will be a hit for young drivers who cannot afford to pay for an FR, Cupra even K1.

Moving on another sub section regarding about TSI Engines and basically the information I have found so far...

Okay alittle guide about TSI mainly about 1.4 TSI single charge turbo (mainly because its the car I drive)
TSI, Turbocharged Stratified Injection or Twincharged Stratified Injection, a technology available on some engines offered by Volkswagen Group. (source Wiki)

The single turbo charge engine can be find in:

• Audi A3 1.4 TFSI
• Seat Leon 1.4 TSI MK2
• And the new Volkswagon Golf MK6 SE 1.4 TSI

on the site it mentions about the power @122PS and Torque 148LBs.FT
Acc 0-62 = 9.2 seconds (source volkswagen.co.uk)

When I tell people about TSI they already assume it is a Twin charge engine with the power of turbo and supercharger combined into one working together. This is wrong as the car they are thinking of is the Volkswagen Golf GT, this has the same size engine of 1.4 and the same name “TSI” but the power is different having a supercharger on top the total is 160PS according to the site. (source volkswagen.co.uk)

Please refer to this image of the twin charge engine

golf_tsi_enginebay.jpg

Below is my 1.4 TSI Engine as you can the difference is quite noticeable.
On my engine you can clearly see the turbo which could be a K03 turbo but this is not fully comfirmed yet.

For more information go on these links
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_engines#1.4_TSI_90-133kW

And also added a video link about the 1.4 TSI engine single charged
http://paultan.org/archives/2007/06/05/volkswagens-tsi-engine/

This is all the information I have compiled so far and I hope it was somewhat a good read, This is mainly for TSI owners and purely there to help and I will continue to find out more about the car as I go along with mine. Special thanks to ZBOYD for the encouragement
---

I will upload more pics after - g'd night hope this information helps to all TSI owners out there and also for the others aswell.

Car looks good mate. I like what you have done with it, everything is all under the skin and there is a real sleeper look to it.
As discussed sorting out the suspension is the next thing to do :D

Cheers for this good write up.

I'm thinking of getting a Leon Stylance as my next car and am torn between the 1.4 TSI and 1.9 TDI.

I know the 1.4 has more power as standard, but the 1.9 is proven to remap well.

Will be interesting to see the results from your mods.

Whats the MPG like from the 1.4?

Also the Linea R grille looks really well with the standard bumpers! Seen it on a few FR's and Cupra's and always wondering what it would look like with a normal bumper.

Thank you am going to continue and find out more and share it with the members it be a good start for new tsi owners then.

and to answer your question about the MPG ...the tdi will always have a better MPG as its a diesel but its not too bad with all my mods now i achieve 40-50 MPG driving the correct speeds of 70-80 crusing with 6th but before it was 30-40 standard mines completely different feel from standard when i revv it at 4k it starts to churp from the air filter like a jet winding sound I'll have to record it and upload it to here. I'll be filming the RR tomorrow am hoping for good results if not its back to the drawing board oh also uploaded some pics today nothing special but hope you like erm!

oh its still the same aerial..its just not the full pic heh no its a bad idea to clay new cars its just washed :) thank you

I know it's the original i was suggesting a cheap mod 4 u. :p
Bad idea to clay new cars?? Who told you that.
You shouldn't clay and/or apply sealant to paint thats under 90days old (allowing paint to breathe) but even if your car was new yesterday guarantee its been sitting somewhere for months. :)

Did you do your map after you made your mods? Was it a Custom Map or just a Generic Stage 1 map for your car?
If its a generic one then it will not pick up on the Mods that you have done e.g. your Induction Kit and Exhaust.
I know that on my car the power increase has been mininal with the other mods that I have due to the map being generic (not complaining as is a really good map)

the map was done in between had the exhaust done the following week so it could well affected the original settings of the remap but am not sure because the peformance don't seem to have downgraded since I had the map done, But yea I think its a generic stage 1 I will look at others for another one its still in development for bigger map companies.
