How many have an unfortunate experience with keying?!

My car was keyed in the winter just gone, it was about 4 inches long and a in a strange '+' shape. Very deep, went through the paint, primer and into the body.
That was quite possibly the most inraged i had ever been when i saw it! Makes the blood boil!

It cost £180 to get it taken out and its perfect now, absolutely perfect.

I know of 4 other people that have had their cars keyed and was wandering how many others on here had? Also does it make you more paranoid about leaving it now?

I'm sure when mine was done it was in one of two places and i find myself feeling paranoid when i leave it there, or infact anywhere new.
It's not even an LCR either, its nothing flash, i just think its a nice tidy car, but then i spose people will key anything if they feel like it, dont really need a reason.

Had mine done earlier in the year too... rear quarter near the fuel flap.

It's a sad reflection of the way our society is going I think.

Chipsaway fixed mine very well (can't see where it's had paint at all) for £180

My old Civic got done on the boot and a rear quater, it also got crashed into when it was parked and no-one left a note.

My LCR has been done twice, once outside my house, actually that might be twice but I only discovered the 2nd one in an empty multi-story so could have been done there I guess. What p*sses me off about that is someone has gone out of their way to find my car and key it! It's also had a tyre let down and my mirrors kicked outside my house, believe it or not I live right next to a country park & nature reserve wetland/marshland away from any riff raff. However, if it was the neighbour that I suspect, I have big plans for him and he's under my watchful eye.

I now park my car further away from my house, I don't feel safe leaving it there as I can't see it but then again when I could, it got done over.

My Ibiza's been keyed 5 times, all down the same side over 2 years. It only happened since they moved the cars onto the pavement to make way for a buslane on the main road. Have actually stopped caring now because it looks a mess and it's embarrasing.
sad b*stards.

To add, I started a thread about car security but it looks like it's been wiped when they were cleaning the site up. Anyway, the conclusion was either a car cover with integrated alarm £125, in-car CCTV £150 - £ 250 or Clifford alarm with proximity sensor £300+. The final option would cost me only £15 to furnish some friends of larger proportions to gorge themselves on McD's, watch DVDs and listen to T-unes on a stake out, over looking my car. Done this twice now and no luck although I WILL get them!

Somebody went to the effort to key 3 different panels on my car, REALLY deep one down the passenger door, one across the boot and one on the rear quarter... GF's car has been done tooas have 4-5 other cars on our street so i'm figuring it must just be mindless vandalism rather than anything personal

My car was keyed all down one side from the front driver side door to just passed the fuel cap while I left my car in work over night thinking it would be safe in a “army camp”

My Ibiza was done down one side and somebody jumped on the bonnet putting a nice dent in the front nearly 2 years ago. Right pita and makes you very angry. A little while later a friend that lived two roads away from me his whole street had every car keyed from one end to the other. Some sensless mindless idiots out there.

Not had mine done yet (he says hugging his desk) but knowing how much of a bollocking my passengers get for leaning on the car in a zipped up jacket/jeans and not being careful getting in and out with bags I hope I never catch anyone doing it to my car as Im not sure i'd be able to restrain myself.

Scum bags, pure and simple.

whatever happened to pulling the wipers up and nicking hubcaps?

I've had a car keyed before, once a car of mine was coined. They used a £1 coin and you could see where the machined edges of the coin had gouged the paint and right through to the metal.
