Boot Size

Hi guy's, wonder if someone on here could help me. I am toying with the idea about selling my LCR and purchasing an Altea FR TDI. I was wandering if someone who owns an Altea could pop out to the boot and measure the size of it from side to side for me?

I need a diesel for work and my LCR has just got to 60k so I think I need to move more into a 4+ 'family' friendly car, like the Altea.

Any advice would also be great.

Cheers
Gareth

The luggage space inside is 40" wide, the opening is 38" wide at its maximum.

38"? that seems really small. Have you got an Altea?

I can pop outside and measure the Altea again for you if you wish. I can also take many photographs of it from various angles and in differing light conditions (but you may need to wait for a bit of daylight). But my neighbour might think it a little curious that I'm so interested in his car for no apparent reason other than my mate wants to know how big the boot is....

Course I have an Altea.

Oops, just measured it again and it's 1020mm wide in the actual boot space, and 965mm is the widest horizontal opening. I can measure it again and make it bigger if you choose, but I'd be telling fibs.

Then again, if I measure it across the diagonal I can actually make the boot entrance wider than the boot itself. but that's a little bit distorted in real terms as the entrance would actually be wider than the space it opened into. Sort of Doctor Who / Tardis like, but in reverse....

I think you'll just have to believe me when I say it's 40" wide and 38" entrance.

Wait a minute. I have an 05 Altea. There's a possibility that the later ones were bigger. Maybe someone could confirm my suspicions?

Hmmm, taking the p155 there.

Should I measure the XL and see who's the biggest. Perhaps we can both max out (push forward) our sliding seats

On the serious side edmong1981, I've had a Leon, an Altea and now the Altea XL (also a Toledo with its Mary Poppins boot) and I'd say the Altea is bigger than the Leon, maybe shorter but a lot deeper.
