Unhappy Carbonio

Hi,

My bodyshop ordered a Carbonio Intake for my Leon TDI when it was being repaired 2 years ago as the original had been cracked in the impact, so they ordered a replacement, but due to stock being low at that time, you sent it out after I took the car back, they then forwarded it to me in the mail once they recieved it.
Due to my lazy self (during the cold months) i didnt replace it and forgot for 2 years and it remained boxed up in the cupboard, but this month i finally serviced the car and was told the filter needed replacing.
I remembered then but when i opened the box i found that the intake wasnt the same one, the intake pipe is longer and the filter smaller and the rubber joiner to MAF was a reducing one.

So I just need to find out which one this is, thinking its either the 1.8T as the filter is near half the size of my TDI one, so I can maybe sell it and buy the TDI one i should have got in the first place...lol

If you keep records of it, it would have been ordered by a company called Crash Corrections in Epping. (Sept-Nov 2007 i think), If thats any help?

Hi there mate,

Sorry to hear about this, but it should actually say on the side of the carbonio box what car it is for. It should have 4 boxes with different engines written under them, and a tick in the appropriate one

Cheers andy, i found it after i looked took the box out of the postage box...duh.. lol

Got the pipe to fit, but needed a replacement filter for the TDI version as i have the 1.8T filter, the TDi one is like a mushroom shape, where the one i have is just a long cylinder shape... can you get hold of those seperately?

Hi mate,

They should be the same filter IIRC One thing to double check though, was it a TDI filter you received? If not then the pipe will be slightly different as the Diesels have a small breather pipe coming from the carbon tube....

I'll have to check the breather size, but i definately sure that the first filter I brought from you was TDI one and it is definately a completey different shape, its a cone shape and teh new one from a 1.8T is just a long cylinder shape, longer than the TDI one, so I cant get it to fit behind bumper without messing with the fog lamps.

This is all very strange i thought they all use the same filter size and shape..

To illustrate Andy,

below is the filter I have on my TDI...

Then this is the filter i have in the newer set, (but they both share the same carbon intake pipe shape and size)

So as you see the filter is completey different shape and size... so wondering if the filter can just be brought seperately?

Ah ok, i see what you mean. I got really confused with that second picture! lol

from what i can see on the system, the filter for a 1.9TDi is listed at £40+VAT but listed as being the same as a 1.8T - i'll see if i can have a look through a kit and see what it looks like. In regards to the breather pipe on the carbon tube, it is a small piece of vacuum hosing you need to make sure is on there.
