loud creaking noise - SEAT Cupra.net

Hi guys, my 2005 1.2 ibiza is making a loud creaking noise whenever i change gear, go on or come off the accelerator, or drive on bumpy roads. Sounds as though its the suspension but the noise only happens when the cars moving. If the engine's off the car doesn't make this noise when i bounce the car. Gear changes also feel quite rough/jerky.

Took the car to the garage and was told the bushes needed replaced, had them replaced but the problem continues, really starting to get annoying!

Anyone got any idea what the problem might be?

Did they replace the front wishbone/tca voided bushes?
Had mine done recently after living with the exact same symptoms you describe and it cured it.

broken engine mount?

with the engine switched off pop the bonnet up and try to rock the engine back and forth, if it makes the noise then it's probably a mount gone.

with the engine running pop the bonnet up and get a friend to rev the engine from tickover to say 3k revs, if the engine moves back and forth a little it's ok but any more than say 1 to 1.5 inches of movement is bad. The noise may happen when revving it, if it does then it points to worn/broken engine mounts.

yeah had the wishbone bushes replaced, made a difference for about a day and then just got progressively worse again.

Tried the engine mount test earlier tonight, seems to be secure so I think I can at least rule that out

If it is the bushes what happens if you dont replace them?

Your front tyres wear down the the metal bands on the inside edges and leave the outside edges looking fine, this can happen in just 5 or 6k miles.

Also you will be deaf from all the noises and need to learn sign language.
