1997 alhambra tdi only getting 1st & 2nd gear - SEAT Cupra.net

hi guys wonder if anyone can help i have a 1997 alhambra which drove great until now i was driving along changing gears without any previous gearbox noises whines etc then al of a sudden it just goes in to 1st & 2nd gear the gear stick seems to be jammed and wont move right to select 3rd 4th 5th and reverse has anyone had this problem before is it common for selector failure etc
any help would be great thanks kev

have a look at the selecting rods from your gear stick to gear box there is to of them one does some many gear and the other does the other ones

i have the identical problem with mine just happened out of the blue i have checked the cables etc i will let you know if i find a cure

I had the same problem .. my cables came off the gearbox as the little cups they clip into had become a bit slick and kept on popping off... i had to put a new set of cables in and working fine ...

That's what gets you.............
