Would you change from a MK2 Leon Cupra to an Impreza STI 5-dr??

Just wondered if anyone currently owning a MK2 Leon Cupra would consider a move to a 5-dr Impreza STI.

The obvious advantage of the Impreza package is the proven AWD with 300bhp standard. I fully appreciate that the running costs would be a lot more than the Cupra. Insurance, servicing, more tyres etc.

Apart from the latest shape being an oddball I think its an ugly good looking car. Those quad exhaust pipes are nice and the bonnet scoop.

I uesd to own a '97 R facelift classic shape UK Impreza Turbo years ago and enjoyed the car overall, appart from the servicing and need for regular fill ups of petrol.

IMO the Cupra is a much better car compared to classic shape Impreza's. I wonder how things have come on in the last 10 years.

I've seen the cheapest 1 year old STi's around the 20k mark.

I wasn't too sure on the new shape STI either but its really grown on me. Certainly wins hand down performance wise and a lot of potential for tuning. Obviously as you've said going to be vastly more to run but the newer STI's dont actually need that much servicing compared to the old hawk and blobeye ones. I'd be very temped.

Or try an Evo? I had an VIII for a few years and it was one of the most rewarding cars to drive I've ever owned and easy to get 400+ for very little money.

Oh and I have seen a few STI's down to the 18k mark now (58plate) - I know cos I'm thinking of changing from my MK1 and this is on the potential list...Although prolly going for an Edition 30 instead.
