Hitting a rev limit to early?

Hello, i have an 02 leon cupra, it has had a remap a couple of years ago, just recently i have noticed that its not quite right. It is fine up to about 4.5 revs then the power just drops, the max speed i can get out of the car is about 118mph! I have had a lot more out of it than that. I have hocked it up to see what faults are there and it came back clean! It seems to be in all gears (only tried from second onwards!) Any ideas?

If there was a problem with the mass air flow sensor would it not show up on the dash or the computer when it was tested?

MAF wouldn't always throw up a dash light. No lights both times it went on mine.

It should show a fault code though...

When MAF dies it usually brings on the TC light and does record a fault code but does not usually bring the EML on.

I spoke to my Mrs dad (he's my mech) he said it might not register a code if it doesn't effect the emmissions, so tomorrow i shall take the MAF off and see what happens, then go from there. Some1 mentioned a blocked fuel filter, I dont think it is as it happens at certain points, as in the same time all the time. If it was the fuel filter would it not be at random times and i would feel it through the gears not towards the top end?? huh!

Sounds like the same symptons I had. Turned out to be the crank position sensor.
