As the oil is only going to be in there a little time, the grade isn't too important 15w-40 or 10w-40 are fine, although as it's a PD engine, I would probably go for something a little better than the cheapest oil I could find due to the pressure the oil is under. You can drive it, just don't thrash it for that time.

Yes, Pro S is a good choice and I would go for the Pro S 5w-30.

Hi, Tim
![]() I use a 5w/50 oil in my car at the moment, and get some smoking on startup which disappears after a few mins and doesnt come back at all driving, i think the oil is maybe too thin and goin through the seals of the turbo on startup. (i need to check the restrictor on the turbo to make sure its the correct size as well) Ive been thinking about using the Mobil 1 15w/50 motorsport oil or the Silkolene Pro S 10w/50 as my car is probably over 400bhp and i do a lot of track days where ive seen the temps nudging the 120 mark, is this something which you would reccomend?

I would go for the Silkolene (now Fuchs) Pro S 10w-50. 5w-50s aren't great oils, most break down to be a 5w-40 fairly quickly and that is probably it's getting past the seals

Hi
You need an oil that meets the 504.00 spec. 504.00 - http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-749-vw-50400-oil.aspx The 504.00 oils*are all good oils, so make your decision based on any brand/price preference you have. Instead of using them as a longlife oil, I would change them annually due to the remap. Cheers Tim

Supposed to be a VW504 5w-30 spec oil. How often does it get serviced? Is it on the fixed or variable (longlife) service? If on fixed you could go for a good performance spec 5w-30 synthetic with changes around 10,000 miles or once a year, whatever comes first.
Cheers Guy

If used hard I would be tempted by a good performance 5w-40 synthetic changed once a year or every 10,000 miles, what ever comes first.
The best are the likes of the Silkolene/Fuchs Pro S, Motul 300v, Redline, Millers CFS and the Gulf Comp here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Cheers Guy

Hi there,
I'm afraid I'm a bit of novice when it comes to asking the right questions! but I'm keen to make sure I keep my car topped up with the best fit for usage to keep it running smoothly. I'm coming up to a 90k service and I would maybe like to bring my own oil to the garage as I'm not 100% sure what they will use. Make: Seat Model: Leon Cupra 20VT Year: 2001 (Nov) Engine type: 1.8 Petrol Performance modifications: n/a Driving style: (road / off-road / track etc) - B roads mainly As a final silly question, how much oil should I be looking to provide to fulfil an oil change? Many thanks, Doug |

Hi
I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good, cheaper alternatives. According to my data, it only needs 3.5L for a change. Cheers Tim
