Loud 'wooosh' when applying throttle

Hello people,
this is probably a straight forward one for the boffins...

LCR - 225 - stage 1 revo

Today, when i applied the throttle, the car kind cut back and produced a loud 'WOOOSH' as if ive got a dump valve or something...

Im thinking this is some kind of hose split or something?

ive recently changed the spring in my Forge DV to a yellow one...

what do you guys think?

ive had a quick look and no hose seems to be disconnected or anything (but it could be anywhere right?)

any advise would be great, thanx

Which DV do you have? By the way, a DV IS a dump valve

I assume you've tried putting it back how it was to see if it cures it?

hey thanks for the reply...

just went for a little test drive...
i think it maybe something more serious

as well as the large Wooooosh, the car has now brought an error code - CODE 16487

things get worse...

The TC and engine management light are on...

the break light started to flicker and when i was stationary at the lights, the car CUT OUT and i had to restart the engine.

Im calling the AA at the moment, its basically undrivable...

Hello mate

Have you checked all the pipes are on securely? I had a similar problem a few weeks back, I noticed that the pipe from the o/s intercooler going to the charge pipe had come off slightly. Just a matter of putting back on properly and tightening jubilee clip up. Then back in business.

Hopefully yours is something simple too. Good luck.

That fault code and the fact the TC light is on points to a knackered MAF sensor although I'm not sure how the 'woosh' noise comes into it,

Yeah could be the ECU pulling it back because the MAF is knackered and the noise is the DV opening?

I'm thinking in my head more of a high pitched whoosh than a DV woosh....hard to picture these things from just words! lol

When it should have been boosting I was just getting a sort of whooshing noise, hardly any power and the Diagnosis/Excess of pollution light on.

Doesn't really sound like the same problem as yours though. Hope you get it sorted.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A BOOST LEAK MY FRIEND!!!!

Check all major Boost pipes first look for signs of spray like a mist of dirt on surrounding components, then check the smaller hoses that connect to to recircluating valve, the most common component to fail is the rubber seal on the metal boost pipe fitting that comes from the pancake pipe on the drivers side behind the wheel from the intercooler then there is a section of rubber hose it then joins the metal section up to the turbo this rubber to metal join has a rubber gasket that over time falls to peices through it perishing with being hot and cold all the time, you will see signs of leaking surrounding the area or a misting of oil spray on the back of the sump depending on what side of the gasket hase blown through.

Could also be a split DV diaphram?

or ya piston in the forge dv has become stuck or dislocated in the housing some how but not sure its possible, Check you have screwed it back up tight after you changed the spring

Id still go with my previous diagnosis of a big gaping mother of a boost leak although saying that it only has to be a little hole/leak and it makes a right old racket bit like the missus really! (Mouth)
