gear nobb removal - SEAT Cupra.net

i feel stupid for asking this but i just cant figure out how to remove the gear knob on my mk 2 toledo

From memory, unclip the gaitor surround and lift it up above the gear knob. There should be a plastic clip that you can try to prize off. It can be done without breaking it but a new gear knob should be supplied with a new one. This will release the top of the gaitor so it can be pushed down. Further down the neck of the gear knob there is another circular metal clip with an oblong protrusion. You need to prize this open too. Again you can re-use this one (you will need pliers to secure it back on). It is this clip that releases the knob which should then pull off easily.

Edit: Just remembered Pabs did a guide. It doesn't show the plastic clip clearly that holds the gaitor on but it helps:
