ICE MAN: How do I wire an amp idependent of fader?
I want to install an amp and sub in my mk3 Ibiza Cupra as it has less than no Bass!
I know how to wire up the amp (already have Alpine V12) using hi-level inputs, but want to retain the front and rear speakers and therefore the fader. How can I wire up the amp so that the fader has no effect on the sub?

HI.
If you have an alpine sub then you can get an Alpine bass controller Part Number:RUX-4180 This basically plugs into your Alpine Amp and you can adjust the bass accordingly. Long lead which will reach from boot to dash area. Though this is only available to connect to the latest amps. 2003 onwards. See alpine website for more details. If it wont connect to your alpine amp. Then get a bass cube. Something from Phoenix Gold. The titanium range is the best to go for. This will then allow you to control bass. Phew..! Hope that helps |

Thanks for the reply cuprapower, however you don't seem to understand my question.
I want to wire up the amp but not lose front or rear speakers. I still want the front and rear speakers to function as they do now, including the fader. I also want a sub, but I don't really care about being able to adjust it from inside the car. Once the sub level is set, I will leave it alone as I always have in previous cars. My question is HOW do I connect the inputs to the sub amp. I could disconnect either fron or rear speakers and connect directly into high-level amp inputs, but then I would lose the speakers. I could split the speaker wires to both the speakers and amp, but then surely I would be halving my signal and would lose too much quality. Either of these methods mean that adjusting the fader would adjust sub level, which I don't want. ![]() Shock Xe: You can get a high-level to rca converter which are pretty good. That way you can convert your speaker outputs from the head unit to rca inputs to an amp. I remember you added some new component speakers to your car. Did these make a big difference? I am unsure whether to upgrade as the source is probably the limiting factor in the system.

Shock, did the focals actually make any difference though?
I tried to buy some good components at my local audi place and the sales guy told me not to bother. He reckoned it would only sound worse as there wouldn't be enough power to the speakers from the standard hu. I said I wanted a simple install. Some good components up front and a sub, with some replacement rear speakers for a little bit of rear fill. He tried to sell me a HUGE 6 channel amp, an equalizer and everthing else he had in the shop! HELLO?? I actually USE my boot!

As with the sony amp mentioned some dealers (amethyst etc) actually supply and fit it (It goes under centre console) so you will get a big improvement if you combine this and uprated speakers |
