i bought all the gear for the engine service, the usual OE oil and fuel filter, Bosch platinum plugs, 5w30 Lucas oil, and my first upgrade parts

*A.S.H twin cone intake and breather filter
*Forge 007p diverter valve

When i got under the car to drop the oil, the drain plug just span.....oh joy! apparently a common fault with the ally sump these are fitted with. So next came the new sump, I had to carefully drill the old one to drain the oil, remove, clean the oil pick up and replace with the new shiny item! With all of the service parts in place and the pick up cleaned the engine seems to be a lot sweeter i must say

Next up i removed the bonnet liner, 2 reasons for this, the first being its my opinion that they harbour moisture which is not what i want around metal work, and second it helps to amplify the noise from the DV. Once this was done i polished all of the visible metal work within the bay including the under bonnet

Then i washed all of the pipework, resevoirs and covers down and give em some vinyl care treatment

starting to clean up pretty nice i reckon :D

next thing i noticed was clutch fluid dripping from the bottom of the bell housing. After a few days it was noticeable the clutch bite point was moving further to the floor, a few days later i was sat in first with the clutch depressed and the car juddered and started to pull away, stalled and jammed in gear. The slave cylinder had given up, so knowing the box had to come out i popped down to TPS where i got a fantastic deal on an Audi TT Quattro clutch, direct replacement for mine but a lot sturdier with it being designed for a 4 wheel drive system, so i guess you could say an upgrade part. 1 day later the leon had new clutch, master and slave cylinders and a bleed valve, and while it was in i also opted for the cam belt, tentioners and water pump to be changed, using the metal impellar pump of course, Big bill but a weight off my shoulders

Finally, with the car finally running strong did i find the confidence to go for stage 1 mapping. Everywhere except Revo was miles away from me, and having heard mixed opinions on Revo i decided to use an underdog called Elite Remaps based in Leeds. I was taking the missus to York for the weekend so it was agreed that i would be met there and the map would be done for me. 15 mins after the car was plugged in and boy what a difference, a completely different car and one very happy man. Estimated to be around 220bhp mark up from 178bhp, and torque from 175 to 227 ft/lbs, but i will get it roaded at a later date for exact confirmation.
