Er..think I've just found my new wheels!!

Well I've got 60k on my Cupra now and its time for a change..

I have obviously being considering a new 225 Cupra R Leon...

but out of left field has come the new Evo 260 from Mitsubishi..

23k and three 3 point seat belts in the back...

decent chassis and scooby pace...

Just have to get my head around the 20mpg and I think I have found the perfect family chariot come fast road car come trackday car.

Its just the extra 5k over the 225R.....But its residuals should make up for at least half of that.

What do you think...?

Mmmm, have to say that i would go for the Mitsi mate. I think the big wing is an option on the 260 so thats the only thing you'd have to buy as an extra. They look fantastic IMO, especially in black. Go for it mate, the LCR is holding its value well but what will it be like once the next generation Leon comes out (regardless of whether theres a Cupra/R straight away)? The Evo's seem to hold their value very well, but more importantly, look the nuts and go like stink.

Oh, if you feel the need to come past Bardsey in it, i expect a call

I think I'd stick with the small wing....I don't have a hang up about the contents of my underpants
Plus I've never been into disguising one car to look like another..its kind of sad...remember all those BMW 3 series 318is coupes made to look like M3's...one look at the rear view mirrors and you knew they would be toasted by a Mondeo

Plus it would save me having scoobies and porsches clambering all over my rear end in a ritual display of testosterone

Don't forget the 4500 mile/6 months servicing at 260quid a pop, plus the need to buy 4 new bespoke tyres at a time. Assuming the service intervals and tyres are the same as the FQ300 that I was looking at.

Cheeky barsteward.

Good call with the rear wing, if you are running a really slow car you dont want to make it look like a faster one.

Go for it, really nice car, i think Leo is looking at one too...

Speed wise it aint too shabby....don't know about top end but 0-60 in six seconds and 0-100 in 14.8

Service intervals.........4500 mile as said by Andy unfortunately but my mileage is soon to decrease when I start working from home.

Evo's are awesome cars. A work collegue has the FQ300, will practicaly outrun any other road car you meet.
Power difference between the 260 and the 300 is obviously the horsepower, but i believe its not that noticable when driving.

However the major down side to owning any evo is the fact that they have to be serviced every 4k miles or every 5k miles ( depending on what model you have )
and like you say above, they are the ultimate gas guzzler.
The worst milage my friend has had from his FQ300 was when we traveled down south and back from the midlands, about a 200 mile all round trip. It cost him £75 in fuel, refueled twice. But the fact of flooring it through every gear doesnt help at all.

Go for it though, you will get so much pleasure from driving it, rare cars aswell, you dont see many on the road unlike the ever so common scooby!

Buy a Nissan Skyline GTS-T or GTR bud!! make it a R33 as the R34 are way too expensive!!! Evo's are really boring to drive - you'll get more enjoyment out of a scooby BUT seeing as every1 has one these days dont bother getting one of them!!!
GTS-T's are cheap + rear wheel drive and if you give Blitz a call for approx £4000 you'll have 500+BHP and one hell of a BEAST!!!
Saying that, leon's are good looking cars so id defo make it one of them or a Skyline!!!

Did someone say twin turbo supra? no just me then.

Wave good bye to scoobys and evos on the straights ( with a bit of tweaking ) and save money on wiper blades and screen wash by going round every corner and roundabout sideways! oh memories of happy days come flooding back

I have yet to see one in the flesh or have a test drive so my decision is still in the balance.

The 225R would be a nicer looking car and its better mpg and service interval plus I've been happy with my Cupra.

The Evo 260 has a lot going against it......less mpg...more servicing costs...no hatchback practicality...more break in and steal your keys at night..potential

Also its only half a second quicker 0-62 than my Revo'd cupra and less than a second quicker 30-70..so in terms of feeling quicker it probably won't.

However in its favour its a proper sports car and cheaper than a porsche or 350z
and it has five proper seats.

decisions desicions...

I won't be leaving here my wife still has her 8v and in all probability she'll be getting an Altea or new Leon next....in diesel form
