Remap Time

Who would you guys recommend for a remap on an Ibiza Cupra? Would only be going stage one for now. The only place local to me only deals in Revo. Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated. Im in Aberdeen btw

Cheers, Wayne

Petrol or Diesel?

Personally I don't rate Revo too well, on all the rolling roads I've read about/been to custom mapped cars have been rolling better results and smoother curves than Revo maps

(Mainly petrol based findings)

sorry, forgot to mention that, its a petrol

im just looking for some opinions, the only ones i have experienced have been Revo maps on a mates Ibiza then his Leon, they seem quite aggresive maps but both his cars pulled well

My custom map's pretty aggressive when it comes on to boost, but tbh I like it like that as it makes it known you're going for it haha. On a good motorway run I still see 40+ MPG and normal driving around 30MPG so fuel consumption, if anything, reduced slightly so I get better MPG than I used to before!

I was often seeing Revo mapped Stage 2 cars making 230bhp and 260ftlb wheras a couple of people with custom (Big Fish Tuning in this case) maps (Scott-O on here, and his mate) were making over 240bhp and 270ftlb with the same mods, just a difference in mapping.

Just my 2p's worth really, most people sing Revo's praises

I know what you mean about the aggresive maps, thats what id like. My mates Leon just went stage 2+ last week and what a thing to pull

Do any companys deal with just mapping the ECU or do they all need the car to be there? Like I say we only have one place local and they only do Revo so im guessing a lot of the cars up here are running the same. I'd like to be a bit different

If you're getting a custom map, the tuner will need the car there to either map it on either rolling road, or out on the road itself.

The map on my car isn't totally custom - it's the same as what a few others run on here (danh, scott-o, his mate and a few others) but the same base map is loaded on to the ECU and a few adjustments made to suit each car - which helped keep costs down for us all!

You'll just have to get in touch with any local companies, perhaps try posting in your regional section on the forum to establish where the highest rated tuners are in your area?

Thought so, think a custom map will be the way to go

I will look around and see where people up in Scotland use, would travel within reason for the right one

Not in any immediate rush though, will be looking to do a couple bits and pieces then have the map done to make the most of the mods done

Yeah. What do you have so far? You might as well get all the appropriate mods and then stage 2 the car rather than getting a stage 1 map and then getting a stage 2 map in the future

thats some spec list that

i said to myself i wasnt going to go daft on mine but it wont be too long before i have a list nearing that length too haha

what do you think of the ride with the coilovers?

would you recommend a decat rather than a sports cat?

Haha I was that same really, bought it off a member off here last year (Jam-Cupra I think he's called on here) so some things were already done for me

The ride is pretty damn harsh on the coilies I've got, I can't lie. They are down quite low though. There's better coilovers out there than the ones I have though for ride comfort, it's never really something that's bothered me as 2 out of 3 cars I've owned have had coilovers, and the other the standard suspension was crap anyway (Fabia vRS)

I like my decat, it doesn't really make much difference power/spool up wise I don't think. Just the decat was considerably cheaper, although on the contrary gives you more hassle when it comes to MOT

Ive always just had uprated springs and shocks on cars, never had coilies, but the lowest springs i seem to find are 40mm so thinking coilies are the way forward to get a bit lower

yeah it is a hassle swapping pipes at mot time but like you say a decat is by far the cheapest option

I had springs then coilies on my first car (corsa C) and much preferred the coilies due to the lower drop they gave.

Yeah. It's swings and roundabouts really! Hope I've given you some food for thought in this thread haha!

Can get 35ish mpg on an a road but know way on the motorway. I must have a more aggressive map or something. Oh well, the 20vt is not an engine to be worrying about fuel in my opinion. I think if your getting over 260miles per tank the cars doing just fine!
