Exclamation Fault code P1296

Hi people i had my engine management light come on so i pluuged the ecu into my reader and the code p1296 came up. Does anyone know what this is think its to do with the thermastat cheers.

Also recently ive got in my car in the morning and the temperature gage was flashing, i have also had trouble with ignition,it has been taking a bit longer to tick over after i have stopped and started again? then it revs up to 2000rpm and falls back down to 1000, is this related to the code?

thanks
