MMM's Ibiza FR TDi

Ive been on SCN a while now and thought its about time I did a RR thread.

This thread wont be an all out , loads of money fast moving one because the Ibiza is my "sensible" daily driver. I have 2 other cars (well 1 and a bit really) which get most of my time, money and attention but recently I thought is was about time the Ibiza got some love. Im not one for going too OTT and like to keep it subtle and stylish, I dont like bling at all.

Anyway this is how I bought her nearly 2 years ago:

Pretty soon after I bought it I found the console bushes needed replacing so I put Cupra bushes in and polybushed the ARB while I was at it. I also got some HEKO wind deflectors, Ive had these on pretty much all my cars and I wouldn’t be without them. I had to have a new windscreen fitted after a stone flicked off a tractor I was stuck behind and smashed the original, the new one turned out to be better anyway as it has a shaded bit above the rear-view mirror. Also I had to de-wiper the rear window as the washer pipe inside the motor mechanism has sheared and was spraying washer fluid into the motor, I had fitted a polo wiper before it broke and I want to get it back on as soon as I can find a new rear wiper mech at a reasonable price. The only engine mods Ive done so far is a Pipercross panel filter and putting PTFE tape on all the boost pipework joints but hopefully this year Ill do a few more bits.

The tyres that were on the car when I bought it were Accelerra Alpha (Ditch finders!), they were all pretty new but only lasted about 10k and were horrible and what made it worse was they didnt seal tot he wheels properly so I had to top up the pressure every week. Some of the sealing problems turned out to be corrosion on the alloys so when the time came for new rubber I decided I would strip the wheels and refurbish them:

Before:

After:

I also painted the mirror caps to match. The colour is SSangyongg Trust Grey, its a warm dark heavy metallic grey and the pictures dont do it justice really.

As you can see the centre caps are missing, this is because Ive got something special Im working on for those and a few other bits.

Centre caps are done:

It was a real pain to mask off but I think the results were worth it. As I mentioned earlier Im not a fan of bling and I dont like chrome on any car built after the 1970s so the chrome on the centre caps was sprayed over with a candy black clear to give a black chrome effect (again the photos dont do it justice)............ and so was all the other chrome on the exterior:

As you can see I also sprayed the front grille surround and rear badge/handle surround to match the wheels. I also added and FR badge to the rear and removed the SEAT lettering as I thought the Seat badge was enough.

Next things to do will be a light smoke tint on the rear lights (Laminex?), window tints to match the wind deflectors, brake callipers will be painted when I next do the pads/discs. I also want to do the candy black treatment to the badges on the steering wheel and engine cover.

Things Id like to do in the future:
Turbo back exhaust
FMIC
Remap
Coilovers (wont be going crazy low though as I have to drive over speed bumps and down crap country roads everyday)
Wheel spacers
RARB
Black headlining & pillars etc.

That looks awesome mate. Great idea!

Only thing, I don't think you should have sprayed the "T" in "TDi", as it'll look like it's says "Di" only now.

Cheers Lambro. Im starting to think the same thing about the "T" too. Ill probably just change it for the full red "TDI" once Ive had it mapped.

You don't need lamin-x mate for rear lights, just get tinting spray for the bay like I did. Don't think mine look too bad tbh. Where abouts in Bristol you to?

Thing is I want to be able to remove the tint if I decide I dont like it or I sell the car.
