Question Forge FMDV004 (and adjustment)

Hi!

I've recently bought an FMDV004 to my LCR225. After installing it, I didn't have no fault codes, but on a test drive the car felt like if it had only 130-140 HP, I think I have lost the pressure even on lower revs... Besides that, there were no sound at all. My car is totally stock, no engine upgrades, nothing.

I know that the valve came with the blue spring by default, do I need to change to the red one? Or if I don't, what should I do?

I would be really happy if you could help me.

Hi the FMDV004 does not work on the 1.8T engine

You will need a FMCL007P or a FMDVSPLTR

here are the links

Thanks for the answer!

If the valve does not work on VAG 1.8T engines, why do a lot of people use them without any issues? I'm just curious, I've made choice after researching the Hungarian web, almost every site says this is the best option. Unfortunately I've picked the wrong model, but I don't think it is possible to trade in for a different one.

If I want the sound of the releasing air as well, which one do I have to choose? The FMCL007P says: "keeping external noise to a minimum". What does "minimum" mean in this case?

The FMDV004 has been known to work with some of the earlier golf's due to different engine specs.

If you want the noise use an open cone filter and the FMCL007P

I see... I'm sad, but feeling enlightened.

There's no other possibility than the open cone filter? I'm a little bit afraid of those things, I've heard a lot of bad rumors about them.

Fortunately the seller takes back my FMDV004. I think I'd go for the FMDVSPLTR because I'm looking for the "whoosh" sound when I lift off the throttle. I've searched the forums, many users said the FMCPL007 has almost no noise. I hope the splitter would work without any ECU fault codes.

Do you think that it's enough if I use only a panel filter instead of a cone filter? I'm asking this because I already have a K&N panel filter on the shelf, planning to refit it to my car after cleaning it.

By the way, thanks for all the help!

With an open cone filter you will get lots of noise with the oem air box its near silent with the 007P

The split r will make noise with or without an open cone

Will see on Saturday, that's the day when my splitter arrives. What setting do you recommend for the spring? How many clicks? I'm running on stock setup, no remap... yet.

I'm refitting my K&N panel filter tonight/tomorrow, I wonder if I'll notice any difference...

I've installed the splitter, but I'm a little bit confused. If I set the spring rate to 17 clicks, it's fine when I'm just cruising in town (even if I accelerate hard), but on the motorway I end up in limp mode after 20-30 minutes. What should I do?

Have you raised your boost pressure at all or have a remap?

Nothing, stock Cupra R with 225 BHP.

I've tried 14 clicks, limp mode after a few minutes. 15 clicks, the same. For the trip home, I'll go for 16. But after that I've tried everything between 17-21.

16 clicks doesn't work as well. Do I have to go under 14?

I've tried the upper range, 22 clicks, no luck. Looks like I've lost in the limp mode lottery.

I'm now at 24 clicks, no chatter, only a whoosh sound, but I couldn't manage to try it enough to say it's fine (limp mode occurs after 5-10 minutes).

If this doesn't work as well, what should I do? If I use it in full recirculating mode, basically I get a 007P? Or do you recommend to switch to that in that case?

Limp mode with 26 clicks. Besides that, I've got a huge boost lag between 2000 and 3000 RPM.

I've fitted exactly as I read in the manual. The trumpet is facing the front of the car, like in the picture below:

Now I'm using it in full recirc mode, but I don't now if I get the same performance as I would get with a 007P.
