Hi Guys,

So after having my LCR for over a year now and doing some mods to it I have decided to do a readers ride.

I own a 05 plate Leon Cupra R (225) in the classic "Mellow Yellow" / Ovni Yellow (or onvi as some say) I bought it a year and a half ago with 32,000 on the clock for £6500 (Bargain!) I previously had a Ford Focus MK1 1.8 which I modified too so I am not new to the modifying/tuner scene.

Here are some pictures of it when I bought it new and standard:

So after joining SCN the modding bug sank in....

Thanks to a fellow SCN member (D.K) I bought this:

Then thanks to an amazing girlfriend I got this too - Jetex Cone Filter, Forge 007p DV, Carbon Fibre Wrap and a ***** Fin aerial!
IMG_0968.jpg

So I got to fitting the Jetex cone first (excuse the cable tie!)

Then it was the DV's turn:

Then I took 5 mins to do the charge pipe and about an hour doing the inlet manifold.... long time!

A little later I decided to sort out the annoying rear wiper blade (every Leon owner knows what I mean!) So I upgraded to the Fabia wiper conversion, whilst I was there I tried the new aerial, but it wouldnt fit :( I also bought a cold air feed (tubing) and some rear LED number plate lights.

A couple of months later, SCN had a rolling road day at JKM in Portsmouth, so I went along. Was a great day and only having a Cone Filter and DV I got a reading of 224bhp :) so of course I was impressed!

I then decided that I wanted to improve the performance and the "breathing" of the car - after many weeks of consistently looking on ebay I found 2 bargains!
A Forge TIP (blue) and a pair of Forge intercooler boost hoses!

So I got to fitting these right away, TIP took about 15mins and the others took about 5mins each! I then took her for a spin down the road and the noise was immense! The sucking, the spooling noise, the DV chsss I had a very big grin on my face after that day!

Then I bought a Powerfex Dogbone Bush and an S3 strut brace - luckily the strut brace came off an LCR so it had the boot shutter bit already cut out! I then purchased some Blue silicone hoses off ebay (after reading a thread on here discussing what sizes!) and got around to fitting it all:

After a short while later (before I decided to get a remap) I wanted a boost gauge and pillar pod. I bought a Autogauge off ebay and I bought a pillar pod off ebay too.

After reading a guide on here I fitted it myself. A little fiddly and took a little time, but was worth it. All wired up and plumbed in, I have hidden the clear pressure tubing under the black rubber bonnet lining which hides it very well. Added some cables ties for good measure! Then set around doing the N249 bypass too (might aswell as I was already there!!)

Next stop a custom REVO remap (courtesy of my GF brother who works at Regal Motorsport in Southampton)

After some time designing the software and running a few tests we decided that a 280bhp and 313lb torque remap was the best - so thats what I am now running! The difference is amazing, its like the difference between day and night! The car is so much faster, pulls so much better, spools harder faster and longer! love it!

The problem now is the clutch and exhaust! So I have now ordered a new Clutch from Awesome GTI and I will get that fitted, then sort the 3" turbo back exhaust system (Cobra) at a later date. Then some time after that I will be going for a FMIC!

A couple of REVO stickers and a SeatCupra.net sticker :)

Ill keep you all updated as/when!

Impressive Dyno figures matey.

Thanks mate! We were running and editing the software for hours! And these are the figures that we came to on the RR :)

Problem is the high torque has eaten my clutch, so I have ordered a clutch from Awesome GTI - its their own one "heavy duty clutch and flywheel" Single mass clutch and lightened flywheel can handle circa 350lb torque (what they told me) managed to negotiate with my local VAG specialist to £280 to fit it!

After that it will be a 3" turbo back system from Cobra Exhausts (£595) good price and an excellent system!

Hahah yeh OCD is a killer...

Omg is that how much a turbo back is these days? I wanted a Blueflame for years then they went up to £900 ish. The Miltek is circa £1100 but for me decat is out of the question as my MOT place are fussy little fecks lol.

Will look into these Cobras. As long as the exhaust is not BOOMY at motorway speeds then i will invest too. My first car was a nightmare on the motorway, and if im honest maybe why i never got an exhaust sooner...

Haha I bought it off eBay as recommended on Badger5 page... Iv customised it a little bit, made it wider/not so tight around the air filter. The cold air feed helps get the colder air to it. I am in 2 minds regarding changing it of course... So feel free to post a link!

Yeah OCD may be a killer - but looks great mate!
And yeah they are cheaper these days! A Miltek one is horrifically priced but a good system. Go to Cobra's website and see the prices and a video of it on a LCR! There's a few lads on here with them and they say that even the non resonated system isn't that "boomy" (not much cabin drone) but a low burble when driving and a sporty sound once opened up!

I know I'm going to get one!

So now I have parted with £625 to buy an uprated clutch from Awesome GTI. Hopefully once I have this fitted I can give you all amazing feedback, I can't wait to bed it in then be able to put my foot down and actually go! At the moment I'm driving like a grandad as the clutch is slipping soooo much :/

I have also been looking at exhausts - I think I'm going to go for a relentless down pipe and decat, then a cobra cat back non res exhaust system. All this for circa £500! Bargain!

Seems like a good choice of exhaust there dude. Bit cheaper than the Pipewerx and cobra downpipe right?

Will see what power increases you get with this setup. I forgot to check, u have a FMIC yet?
