Candy White K1

Hi there peeps, just like to introduce myself im Andy and recently just purchased a 2008 Leon Cupra K1 so far loving the car and already begining my modifications. One thing i did notice (before i had bought the car might i add) was that the front and rear bumpers were a different colour to the rest of the car, i no that they have been painted as the dealer said there was a bad score on each, to be honest the guy who painted it did a P&$ss poor job of it and once washed it is obvious that they are different.

Now talking to a local paint and body repair shop they said that they could fix the bumpers and side skirts for about £300 plus vat and then suggested i take the car and get it detailed. I no an excellant detailer but he charges about £450 for a full detail but he did do an awsome job on a friends Audi S5.

The other option that the body shop offered was a respray, he said they would paint the bumpers, skirts, doors, bonnet and tailgate everything on the exterior except the roof for about £850 plus vat.

Just looking for some opions on what others have done themselves and what you guys would suggest. i have seen the paint shops work as they fixed a cracked front bumper on my previous car and you wouldnt even know, also they are always busy which to my eyes good as when you walk by a resteraunt thats empty and one that has a que outside which would you chose

Thanks

In my opinion if the bumpers are a different shade to the rest of the car then no amount of machine polishing by a detailer is going to fix them.

Your best option would be to have just the bumpers re painted in the correct colour / shade and then go from there. If the whole car then needs to be detailed to freshen it up to the standard of the newly painted parts then fine.

£450 would be around the going rate for a correction detail on a car the Leons size but there are other options and other detailers out there (depending on where you are and what you want doing).
